Xenosteel responds:

oh yeah come to think of it I forgot MSN off since that day, a long time ago.. lol sorry man

haha ofcourse you'd have to be jealous :P but lets see how your flash will do eh :) maybe it'll beat mine

Pretty cool

Except the stolen concepts from the Max Payne computer game series.

Xenosteel responds:

eh? Max Payne?
`.` I'm clueless here, is that a movie? well I didn't steal anything, its all from my own head :)

thanks for the review

My god...

This is a well done flash... very eerie... very unusual... and very unnerving.... with a hint of fear mixed in... wow...... all i can say is wow.. some graphics at times could have used some work but.. hey who is perfect?

Xenosteel responds:

yep, nobody is perfect ^.^

thanks for the kind complements, they mean a lot! And thanks for the review :)

Unique.

I have a few suggestions for you first.

I want to talk about graphical detail for a moment. Your movie seemingly centers around graphical detail, from the effects the book has on the guy, to the memory flashbacks that he has. The beginning scene was the guy walking. The shoes were not detailed enough to represent the seriousness of the movie. Also, the person's hands were drawn very poorly. Work on your colors and you will find that there is much to be gained from the use of many different colors. I did, however, like the drawings themselves. The cartoon pictures in the middle were drawn very well, and they showed me the innocence of the characters they were portraying. It's just with the seriousness of the movie, the pictures could have used a lot more refining.

Now, I'll talk to you about "switching." You started the movie out very dark and mysterious. That was great! But, then you switched it to cartoon-like pictures and the whole sense of evil quickly wore off. If you are going to do that, make sure you maintain the darkness theme you set up so well in the opening scenes. After the cartoon pictures, you switched back to the dark theme. It should either be more of a transition between themes, or the "lighter" scenes should still reflect the "darker" theme you have in place.

The music and sound effects that you placed in your movie were the shining part. They accurately reflected the mood, and I must say, you did an excellent job with the timing of sounds and eerie effects. The background music was also well placed and fitting.

The content of the movie was very random to me. I didn't quite get "hooked" at all in the movie. I found no emotions in myself that I could relate to the movie. That isn't because of you, though. It's just something I noticed.

The way that all the menus were done were very well layed out. You had looping music in the menus and that was a great addition. Plus, everything was easy to navigate. Thanks for that.

In closing, this movie was "out there." Very well done, but still had some loose ends. I would like to see more graphical interpretation next time around rather than text.

Thanks for allowing us to watch. It was very well done. Good luck on your future endeavors =)

Xenosteel responds:

I liked your criticism on the graphics, at least you were one to capture the ‘innocence’ of the characters I drawn, as I mentioned before, combining opposites is my art, and I used innocent characters in the middle of a seemingly horror movie, which may seem wrong to most, but that’s my art! It is true that I need to practice drawing more often so I agree that the graphics need some work

I suppose it is true that the emotional outcome differs from person to person, so I’m not surprised to see that this movie hasn’t stirred you inside, it’s a very human thing, every human is unique

I thank you deeply for such a wonderful review! Everything in it was very useful to me, I thank you again and hope to see you review my future flashes :)

Great!

dude, this was creepy, lol, great movie! There wasnt much animation, but it was really awsome!Keep up the great work!

-cd-

Xenosteel responds:

thanks! Yeah I admit animation wasn't really in this flash, its not that I was too lazy to animate, but the question was more like "What to animate?" if you know what I mean

thanks for the review and complement :)
