Awesome

Refreshingly addictive. Very original idea, too!

Good one

This is a good game. It's challeneging, and it's got that retro overpixelated look that i've been drooling over for the past 4 years. I only have two MAJOR problems.

For the love of god, take out that drum beat. It's 2 seconds long and repeats itself for the duration of the game. The other problem is, half the time I'm having no idea what's going on. The powerups are flashing in the corner, but I'm wondering things like "Did I just get that one? Did I get an autofire thing or did it just break".

Other than those two things, you've got a great game goin for ya.

Just ideas...

-Add improvements to speed and machineguns as well as to lazer. A shield (limited energy, use only when immobile) would be well too.

-Add more-than-a-hit-to-die mechs. Some may require lazer and machinegun, and/or in certain order.

-Add the diagonals!!

-And maybe a little animation between scene and scene would be useful for showing some other kind of artwork and anims; maybe even a "level choose" ("should we take the mothership through the Gray Mecha Swarm or the Red Mecha Surprise Zone (change names accordingly)?

-Firing enemy mechas. If they fire lazer, have them "charge" it visibly before firing (to allow to RUN AWAYY!!).

-A "chase the crazy hyperspeed mecha" level?

-An "ally mecha" (shoot that golden shining thing now! hey, you got an ally!) that moves with you and fires its machinegun with you. Maybe more than one.

Cool

I like it cuz it has the old-fashioned graphics and play animations.

Simple and fun.

The concept is good, and I enjoyed the game as it is, but it didn't hold me for too long. You need to add more features than just lazer power-ups, give us something to work for! Maybe like a single chanrge "death-ray" that wipes out everything on screen, but takes several levels to collect, or bombs, or more upgrades, and so on.
I like the retro feel as well, but more complex animations would hold my attention longer, even a picture in the background instead of a solid colour.

Solid foundation, now build on it!
