Ok,numbers boy,how's about this. How many people were stabbed to death last year? How many struck by lightning? How many killed in car accidents? Cancer victims? AIDS? How many died from just being too damn old? You quote one number,make it sound like a lot,and then expect us to be impressed. So let's look at your numbers.
We'll make this nice and simple and just get you to answer some simple questions. Now,how many of those guns deaths were from acts of self defense? How many of those deaths were from already illegal weapons? Hey,here's a thought,those deaths you held up so proudly? They were from the years the gun ban you're so worried about was in effect. Lot of good that did,huh?
And while you're crunching numbers,here's one for you. There are over 10 million legal gun owners in the US. Now,10,000 out of 10,000,000,that's not such a bad figure,especially when you consider how many people die from heart attacks caused by poor eating habits every year. Machines guns have been and still are illegal. They have been tightly controlled since 1934 when the National Firearms Act was passed. To own an FA weapon you must pay a Class III tax which is really more of a license with a in-depth background check by government agencies.
The so-called "assualt weapons ban" has nothing to do with fully automatic weapons. All the ban did was ban cosmetic features of weapons that have absolutely no effect on the lethal ability or function of the weapon. So when manufacturers complied with the law, suddenly they are "abusing a loophole"?!? Wtf?
It has been and still is illegal to sell a gun to a foreign citizen or a convicted felon. Punishing law abiding citizens for acts of criminals only makes it easier for the criminals.
