this is really well done, i like how definite the shading is. may i ask what you used for this? paint, charcoal or pencil?

Thanks. Pencil has always been my weapon of choice.
amazing
this is fookin' cool!!!!!!!
Sheesh...
I clicked on this wondering how a photograph got frontpaged.
and then it hit me. Wow. Simply amazing. You deserve nothing but 5/5 and 10/10 man. Keep on drawing, you've got amazing talent.
damn.
sure wish i could draw that well. 10/10
9/10 and I'll explain why
First, allow me to say *phenominal* job on the hair,, the incredible contrast, effective use of lighting for dramatic effect, as well as the detail in the shirt.
The only place where I feel like you fell short of the same level as the rest of the drawing is in the face: specifically where the shadows are from the tip of the nose, to cheek, and up around the eye. I feel like it gets a little flat. I think maybe if you add a lighter value near the bottom of the cheek where the jawline is, and perhaps make that nice dark area at the eye exude a little futher you'd get a better range of values. Also, I think if you bring the highlight on the nose around the tip of the nose *just a tad*, you can better develop a sense of roundess.
Those are minor tweaks, and if you're happy with where this drawing is, take my advice at your own discretion. If you do any of that and you think it messes the drawing up, you've got the skill to bring it back to where it was.
I also do not see much use of blending tools - kudos if you did this WITHOUT blending tools. Massive Kudos if you did use them and I can't tell because that sort of thing doesn't get past a person like me (I'm a trained portrait artist as well).
20 hours isn't bad, provided this isn't 5x7. If it's a larger piece, well done.
I see what you mean about the nose, however I already sprayed fixative on the picture so it would be hard to change at this point. And blending tools never seemed to work for me anyway... Thanks for your critique!
