I love this so much.

At first sight of this picture i fell in love with it. I wonder how long did it take for you to draw like that. I mean i can draw anime and cartoon and i want to learn how to draw like this. It looks so real and breath taking. When did you start drawing and did you take art classes?

Vonschlippe responds:

I've been drawing since I was a child. When I was 4 years old I was always drawing (crude) boats, trains, dragons, etc. I would always draw the same thing, over and over again... which is something I still do now (if you notice the amount of short-haired girls in my gallery >_>). I never took drawing classes, but I would draw a lot in class =P I learned photoshop from my sister when I was 15 years old (4-5 years ago), she showed me the basics, and I explored the rest on my own. I got a wacom tablet at 16.

There is only practice between where you are now and where you want to be. If I can give a single advice to anyone... In order to progress in drawing, it would be to get rid of the "codes" in their drawing, and draw what they really see. An eye/mouth/nose in the anime/cartoon style is part of a code, such as stickmen for people, a triangle for a boat's sail, and an "m" for birds in the distance. Drawing is a game of observation and practice! Nobody has an anime nose, so why neglect nostrils? There are thousands of ways to draw anything, so finding your own style by exploration is key! And to explore, you need to leave behind what you know :)

Hope that helps! Thanks for asking!
