Shooting Range Testing

So, here's something I started in 2011 and never touched til this morning. Started with a drawing after seeing a flash FPS WIP demo, traced the drawing in Flash, set up the shooting with one, made a parallax scrolling background. And that was in 2011.

Just now opened it up this morning on squadron staff duty, had no internet access, nothing really better to do. Killed a good six or seven hours. Advanced now to a better shooting system, pop-up targets, reloading, and score count. Thought it might as well go up, being better than it started… I really should start working on my projects again…

This is just to see what people think of the engine itself, seeing where I can go with this and whatnot, so don't vote 1 just because it's a demonstration. And leave feedback, please.

Mouse to aim, click to shoot, hold for full-auto.
30 rounds per mag, targets take one hit, reset automatically.

Well a timer is needed to know how many targets are needed to get pass the first level. At one point I got up and later came back and started exactly where I had stopped. So if there's no challenge what's the point. And what's the point of the flag? Is this a canyon or a golf course with sandbags? Anyway, changing the background every level, changing up the weapons and the target shapes would be good for starters. Good luck.

UltimateCJ64 responds:

Well, there's no timer or levels or anything like that. It's a just a FPS test, using pop-up targets on a shooting range background. The "flag" (or range fan, in actual terms) is just in the background, it's a simple asthetic thing, but on actual shooting ranges (at least all the ones I've been to), they are your left/right limits to where you can shoot, so as not to have rounds flying outside of the range's impact area and into adjacent ones. Back on topic, like I said, this is a test (hence the name and everything that was in the description, which people seem to not know what is) and, by making it, a way to learn how to do it.

Solid demo! Go for the full blown game! 3/3

Feels like Road Of the Dead 2. Like one of the soldiers is having Gun Practice..

I think you need to add some new physics to the game, such as wind and gravity, etc. For all intents and purpose, and despite the appearances to the contrary, the targets are all at the same distance, they just very in size.

UltimateCJ64 responds:

I appreciate the feedback man. I personally don't think there's a need for gravity or wind at such a short range, though I can use gravity with larger, slower projectiles like grenades. And I definitely see where you're coming from on the same-distance thing, but the bullets actually take time to go along a fake Z axis, the targets in back take more time to get to; it only varies by a couple of frames though. I did think about doing the cheap way, just draw a line straight from the rifle to the reticle, but again, that's just plain cheap, plus seeing projectiles moving looks nicer in my opinion.

See if u can add a points make a little timer and a shop so we can buy upgrade guns and a little menu and some music it good really good
