HUGE XCVB UPDATE:
Improved Camera
Removed Animated Backgrounds
Zoomed Back A Bit

WARNING: This Game no longer has flashing images, but shakey camera is annoying. so those with photosensitive epilepsy beware.

I have playtested the game with WASD as the controls, and confirmed that all you people complaining about the nonstandard control schemes are morons who don't understand what it would do to the game. It would ruin it.

This is the kind%uFEFF of game that turns people into Batman villains.-MountedDragoon

MARKIPLIER has done an awesome LP of this. Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuX7IDfHguY

This is a game made in 4 days as part of Newgrounds Game Jam 9.

"a perfect masterpiece, the controls were simple enough to be played but hard enough to our brain takes a while to get used to it, sadly, when I finally understood, the screen begun spinning more and more ;-; you evil genius, I LOVE IT"-THE-VOID

It has a very alternate control scheme and is inspired very vaguely by this screenshot: http://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/havegum/physics-hell?context=ratings:etm.search:screenshotjam.offset:12

And I mean very vaguely.

This is a challenging skill based game where quick reflexes and quick thinking let you beat the game.

You start off in a Black and White World, not knowing where you are or what to do. And then BOOOM COLORS!!!!! RAINBOWS!!

X.C.V.B stands for something but I'm not sure what yet. You tell me XD.

X to left and right. C to up and down. V to go in the direction of UP or DOWN. B to go in the direction of Left or Right.

Get to the end of the levels.

The game gets faster as you go along.

Eventually you will come across the Malevolent Levels where what you are shown and what you will are the opposite. You must use considerable thinking to beat this game.

I would love you forever if you beat this game.

It's quite hard.

For those who like to look for messages and such in things. There's a subtle political commentary on the attitude of gay rights going on. As can be seen by the introduction of the rainbow levels.
That's only if you want to look further into something than you should

Such a simple concept, yet so damn complex! And yet with one switch of a key, it would become so much simpler...You purposefully coded the keys that specific way you sly devil, and that is what makes it so hard to master, and so tough to beat.
Flashing lights aside, this was a well executed game. I had to give up partway through, but I havent fully given up on this game yet, I intend to beat it eventually. Its just one of those games you have to get used to after playing it so many times and wrapping your mind around the controls/concepts.
Great job!

Great concept, I must say. The idea of using direction like that really disorients you, requiring skill to memorize the keys.
I found the game to be challenging, and my eyes certainly felt it after beating the game, however I do have some criticism. Some of the levels in the game felt like you ran out of ideas, such as the violet rotational cam level. Which boiled down to going down, right and up, which was a tad down in difficulty compared to the other levels.
The Malevolent Levels, over all weren't all that challenging ethier, though this may be different for others I found them to be easier that the rotational cam levels, simply because though the controls are different you have more leighway in terms on beating them, due to there simple pattern (Down left, up left ect).
Overall though, the game introduced a new concept which was very enjoyable and left me with a thirst for more. I just feel like the game could do with some tweaking to make it perfect.

makehimanoffer responds:

I agree with all your criticisms. As it was a quickly made game and such. I had to work with relatively limited times, and features and so essentially level design suffered (namely with most levels being about 20tiles by 20tiles and relatively small and samey. The cheap tricks were sort of what made the difference. The Malevolent Levels I still personally find annoying and make me think more. but Overall I believe all your criticisms are quite valid and will be further investigated for the full release game Super X.C.V.B. thanks very much for the review.
