The entirety of this was made over the course of the last seven days. I'm actually really surprised at how efficient I was here, since I managed to get around 25 seconds done each day.

Even though the actual animation is not pristine or anything and the frame-by-frame is sort of choppy and shaky, I'm proud of how this turned out, mainly due to the atmosphere of it and the story. I think this time it actually has some meaning behind it. Also, this time I actually have some REAL INSTRUMENTS in the music. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? OMG. Except I mixed them in with synthesized versions of themselves so it's occasionally hard to tell. Oh well.

Edit: Wow, I'm genuinely amazed by the quality of these reviews! There's been a lot of thought put into each and every one of them. Thanks so much, everyone!

Oh my gawd

So rare that I write a review. When I do, it's always because the flash deserve the best. Well I think it. A lot. I think it's something that I should make see to a friend who would completetly understand this.

Thank you very much.

wow

wow just wow is all i have to say. it is true that we as a culture have done this we create these masks for several reasons we make ourselves our own mask to hide some kind of pain from past trauma, force someone to have a mask so that they wont become a outcast, to sort of divide people from others, and finally to kind of make sure that there wont be any problems. it is a sad fact that we must wear these masks but it is the truth. its to the extent that people wont even hire you or even talk to you unless you have a good mask, talking bout how one looks, its sad and disappointing that we even teach our kids that, like telling them to go along with the flow and to not do anything to cause any problems for anyone else buts that's life. and the only way to fix this is to not care what someone looks like and treat people with kindness and respect. hopefully people can change over the years and save us

Hmmmmm

To me there are a few messages relied in:

Social teaching: The mom giving her son the mask (refering to how we are told to be this perfect person in social gatherings)
Freedom: The kid wanting to take off his mask
Imposing ideals: The teacher drawing on the kid's masks
Bullying and superior classes: The smileys beating up the frownys
Dissapointment: The mom crying when she sees a frown on her son's mask
Social expectations and Social acceptance: The mom putting her mask back on as if nothing bothered her and she is happy again, not showing her pain.
Social Disfunction: The teacher's cracked face under all his masks.
Indevidual acceptance: The girl taking her mask off too. Also showing that we are not alone.

Not too bad for a movie that lasts only a few minutes.

ps, did I miss any?

When I set off to make a video like this, I don't actually come up with a list of messages I want to show, they just sort of happen, and I guess they only show themselves to me after I'm done. I think you picked up on all of them!

coolio...

I really love watching flash videos that portray messages like this without actually saying what the underlying moral is, just as the real world does. Also, on a seperate note, i feel like there was some sort of connection to the length that it took you to make this flash and the harsh aspects of reality.
From the perspective of the Christian believer, it's ironic to point out the creation of the world in seven days just as you had with this video, and that everyone is supposedly created in equal imagery of God.
And both cases, there are times in the small fraction of the protagonist's life that emphasize the "blend in with them, or be shunned by them." idea.
In any case, great flash, and i hope you make more... coolio

Huh, I never even considered the amount of time it took to make, but those are some interesting connections, even though they are purely coincidence. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
