After 3 long years of sleepless nights and near fatal set backs, Exmortis 3 has finally been released. I have put my heart and my soul in to this creation, so I hope more than anything that you enjoy this tale of revenge and salvation.

Over to you now, my friends...

i guess its a matter of opinon...

To be honest i thought the demo was okay but as VigalanteKiller stated it just didnt have that creepy atmosphere and it just didnt have that Exmortis feel to it that the other games had it the whole power and ability concept is what helped kill it (at least for me) the old style i liked more because it kept me more interested and made me want to continue playing to see it through it gave the feeling like i was there in a manner of speaking. It just didnt work but I do give you props for trying something different but i feel like this wasn't the best way to go at it. but as i said i guess its a matter of opinion.

Another issue even though this has been addressed many times both crudely and constructively so im not going to drone on it for very long (if i can help it) is the pay for the full game. That to me is also what hammered the final nail. Im not saying that you dont deserve anything for your work but paying for a flash game just dosent feel like a wise investment to me and i suppose if i liked it i would still feel the same way. But regardless i do wish you luck with any future projects you may want to undertake and i hope to see more of your work in the future :)

P.S. if my review sounds demeaning or abusive i do give my most sincere apology for that tone was not intentional

Cheers for the feedback. No demeaning or abusive tone received - so you have nothing to worry about :)

Just to address the whole "pay for a flash game" thing. I was at first sceptical around the concept, however the availability of desktop packagers for Flash (such as Adobe AIR and MDM Zinc) has allowed the practise to become more and more common as Flash becomes more than just a plugin for a web browser.

You may think that your exposure to Flash is limited to your browser, but I can tell you that there are many other platforms that use it without you even realising that the content before you is driven from a Flash codebase.

Many Iphone and Android games are now using Air packaged Flash VRMs, as are commonly used desktop applications. Flash is used widely in the mainstream & indy game development world as a prototyping tool. Popular console and PC games frequently use it to perform both UI and intrinsic game functions. Next gen televisions are starting to come packaged with AIR based flash for content delivery & interaction.

My point being that it seems that most people that have asked the question "why should I pay for Flash content when everything up until now has been free?" - they don't realise that the platform has evolved past its traditional use... and in many cases, so has the content.

Now I'm not saying that content should no longer be free - what I am saying is that it costs a lot of time and money to deliver quality.

If a developer feels that they need more than a decent score and a pat on the back to give you the result of their hard work, then so be it. You don't have to like it - in fact, I am sure the majority of you won't... but rest assured - it will continue to happen, and like it or not - it's something people are going to have to eventually get used to.

Man, I just gotta say. -.-...

Here goes...
I just loved Exmortis 1 and 2 so very, very, much.
I played them when they first came out years and years ago.
I thought they were the absolute shit when it came down to Horror Flash games.
I honestly never thought a 3 would be made.

Then one day, out of the blue, and total boredum, I come back onto Newgrounds, after 3 long years, and I see a beautiful, gorgeous, looking thing... 'Exmortis 3', and as I stare at it, I am takin back to a creepy, (but awesome) time, playing the original two.
So I click on it, ready to get down to the knitty gritties, and dedicate the next hour or so to the conclusion, only to be greeted by BUM BUM BUM!!!!... the true horror. PAY TO PLAY!!!! BUUUMM BUUUMMM BUUUUUMMMMMMMM

So I read the comments, and think, 'If 80 percent of these people are wrong, then this game could still kick a whole bunch of ass. I will give the demo a try anyway.'
Well, I was wrong. Demo, really didn't portray the original two in barely any ways at all... It just wasn't Exmortis as I remember it at all. It's like you tried to do something new, that wasn't Exmortis, and went against what the fans liked. You just stuck the Exmortis theme into the background and rolled with it...
It really dissapoints me... A lot... I wont be demeaning or a douchebag towards you, cuz I know it's not fair, but as a true fan, from when Exmortis first reared it's creepily awesome head, I think you blew the series. Hard...

And I would really rather not hear that whole "Well, if you had just bought the whole game, you would have seen the rest of it." because the thing is, after people play the demo, and see how that is, NO BODY is going to want to play the full game, let alone download it.
Sorry man, just no good...

LefflerWebDesign responds:

That's actually a fair call that you've made. I've never looked at it like that, but your logic makes a lot of sense.

Unfortunately the way that I wrote the storyline for this game, didn't lend itself to me starting with a claustrophobic "what's around the next corner" style that I used for 1 and 2. But in hindsight that would have been a smart thing to do.

What I can say however is that the second and third chapters in Exmortis 3 return you back to the vibe of the original 2 games. Also, the full version isn't just available as download. It can also be played online in a browser at

Cheers for the feedback. It's nice to occasionally get an actual criticism that is relevant and that I can learn from.

Want to Play the full Game. I loved this Series a lot and Unlike Most I will not Critisize That I did wait for this Game to Come out just To be Playing a Demo. I think you are wise to sell The thrd Installment. But I cannot Afford it For Now Your Games are amazing Top notch. Good Work.

LefflerWebDesign responds:

Thanks for the kind words. Keep your eye on as we constantly have specials and bundles happening that may include Exmortis 3.

all three are good ... but ...

But youve bollucksed it. I thought Exmortis 1 and 2 were sublime works with perfectly styled graphics for ambience (supreme detail, not just dark and hope for the best), and one of the most well put together apocalypse storylines for a flash game i have ever gawped at 0=0 (a fantastic read). WHY WHY WHY though do you charge us for part 3, yeah yeah i know we all need to make a living blah. CHARGE FOR THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE THEN. TRYING TO GET US HOOKED WITH TWO GREAT GAMES AND THEN CHARGING US FOR THE NEXT INSTALLMENT IS SHIT. and im not your friend as you seem to think i am in your author comments. To be honest youve pissed me off even more by slagging off fellow reviewers when they clearly have a point. Do you think basically calling us dickheads after constructive criticism helps your case?

LefflerWebDesign responds:

The problem here is that you give a score of 0 for one reason and one reason only - that is the fact that this game is pay-to-play for the full version. What part of that is "constructive" ???

I only rebuke reviewers in a smart-ass tone when they adopt an abusive manner and/or they score my work a 0 just because they don't want a feature limited game released on this website. Because nothing about that type of review is "constructive" and all they are doing is using the review section as a way of blowing off steam - which is anything but constructive...

All the other reviews that I respond to that are indeed constructive or conducted in a level-headed, non vitriolic manner - I respond in kind.

So I guess I should ONCE AGAIN clarify that Exmortis 1 and Exmortis 2 were made without and advanced knowledge of what the future held, and I can assure you that it was not my intentions to get you hooked just to charge for the third.

And I should ONCE AGAIN point out that if the third game wasn't bankrolled, you wouldn't be getting a third game at all.

I'm starting to sound like a broken record, right? But then again, so are the majority of reviewers.
