Hey Newgrounds! This is my first flash game and first submission here - it's been on Kongregate for the last week.
Don't Look Back is a game about fantasy. Just to warn you, it can be quite tricky in places... I hope you enjoy it!
All in all, Don't Look Back was a very invigorating game, a very nice break from all the other games that fail miserably at execution with their originally great ideas. It was tricky, challenging and very interesting platformer, the old school sprite style quite effective in doing it's job of showing you just what to do with absolutely no slow down, and, even simplistic all in all, is actually quite good looking. Now, the gameplay was good, the jumps were a bit tricky to do at times with the warning-less disappearing platforms, the rushing enemies and the slow rate of fire, but it made the game all the more challenging and rewarding in the end. Praise to you for the revival system, since it was an effective system of restarting with no frustrations whatsoever, particularly with the bosses and monsters coming out of nowhere most of the time. The last part was especially challenging seeing as you couldn't turn back to see the spirit (some text would have been nice in a wispy ghost like style, and it would've done great alongside the gameplay). The concept is also a bit confusing at first, but after the end I was actually quite fascinated on how the character goes down all the way to the depths of hell just for her and ends up with a very ambiguous disappearance, back to the beginning of the protagonist staring at the grave. My little guess on the end: the guy is under punishment from the Almighty, forever doomed to repeatedly go back to save this woman's soul from the depths of the underworld, only to start all over again at the beginning just for the sake of his repentance under the hands of the Almighty till he either succeeds or just leaves and moves on like he was supposed to do. A sequel with more story and less ambiguity, text, plot and more challenging work, explaining what this story had been and why the ending was like that would be very well appreciated. If you're done reading this and wondering why it's a nine and not a ten, it's because of that little well executed ending. I don't like being left in the dark, so please expound in the sequel to keep us waiting for more of this.

This is a really awesome game. I would have loved to see more gameplay with the ghost. That is, where you lose if you look back. The idea of not being able to look at the ghost was a fantastic concept and I think you could have developed it a lot farther.
However, the game itself was very excellently executed. Maybe you could extract the ghost aspect and put it into a new game...or a sequel, or something.
All the elements combined to make a perfect flash game. Work of genius. However, I am confused about the ending- was the protagonist a ghost all along? Traveling back in time to see himself? Explain it please. Thanks.
I left a comment on your blog of this game, don't know if you read it. I just want to see how amazing I think this game is, and hope your release more wonderful old school style games for flash.
