Hey im going to get an Xbox 360 soon and i was wondering, what game should i get first? (besides castle crashers and alien hominid of course). I dont want to get a direct sequel, such as Gears of War 2, or Halo 3. And i am planning on gettin Xbox live.

It depends on what you like.
GTA IV, Oblivion, and Dead Rising are all pretty good.
If you like Rhythm games, and want something you can play on Live, I'd recommend Rock Band 2, it's pretty fun.
Lost Planet. I'm not sure if it's on the 360 though, probably is. I got the demo from PSN, and it's an amazing game.
I think it's an online only game.

cod 4 isn't a direct sequel. i mean games that continue the story of the game before them

Eh, it's a rental in my opinion. I liked it, but I can see why some people didn't like it. I was finished with it in under a week, so buying it probably wouldn't be the way to go.
