Well to gain levels you need to deposit everyday and collect exp, then you will move up levels, as for other stuff thats all extra...

As many of you who've read the Thread Thread lately might have guessed (if you also waded through my posts in there, I should add... and those of my alt), the days of the full pentalist are over. We are down from 180 to 30 users on the pentalist. I know that sounds insane... read onwards for an explanation (or just go to the web update--which is now the ONLY update, BTW--and read more there). This text is linked to on the website as well, in a separate file.

1x10k -> 2x10k
Trail of Tears

Even though I'm calling this the Trail of Tears, it SHOULD be noted that there are people in ALL three groupings below... who are QUITE close to making the new 2x10k form of the Pentalist. Some examples? rvyn, who just got 10k exp... is quite close to double10k status, and will thus be entering the list soon. Denvish and X-naut are both very close to 10k saves (and thus double10kness), so they'll be back on the list soon enough... right after getting booted off this week. And finally, Pure_LionHeart is near 10k in two stats, so he can make it on the list for the first time since mid-summer 2004 quite soon, if he really wants to do so.

The following 9 users (5/3/0/1/0) would have made the Pentalist this update, has I kept the requirements the same as two weeks ago (and had I used NG Lister to make the list instead of doing it entirely by hand... as I did) for the reasons listed in parentheses:

True. I fell short where you did as well. It would probably be easiest to just start posting a lot more on the BBS though, even though it's a rather cheap way of getting back on the list.

Unless I become the next ZeroAsALimit chances are I won't be getting a spot on the list for at least a few months to half a year or so by protection points. That is if I can keep up my pace.

Well, you clearly weren't TECHNICALLY at 10k yet when I pulled the data a couple hours ago, but I would have fudged you upwards had this been a full singlelisted-and-up 1x10k (as I shall from now on refer to it) update.

IOW, if pieoncar's thread had never been made, it's likely that you would have been fudged up onto the list tonight as I used NGL to make it. Ah wells. Fate works in strange ways. Congrats on 10k blams, BTW. 10k = groovy whether or not it's just one or multiple. I just have to make the list more manageable and more manual-updating-friendly. It was going to happen sooner or later (and back in January, while talking to liljim about the future changes to our profiles and NG lists... I figured it would have happened by the end of February or so).

Emphasis on the "web update--which is now the ONLY update, BTW" part. :::nods::: Part of my planning for this change since January has been that the BBS updating would end and the list would go web only. It's so much easier this way on multiple fronts. Today it took a ton of work to get the list ready, but that was because I had to manually verify each of the 150 kicked people didn't get over 10k in any additional stats... and of course I also checked another 150 or so people who've been on the "hopeful" list for some time now, and that's where the "9 entries if I hadn't changed the list form" list came from.

But... Yeah, I think a lot of people will make it back. Maybe not as quickly as some made it back from the QuadList/PentaList changeover bump, but then again... out of 32 people bumped back in August, only 15 made it back, 17 remained off the list, so... jonthomson was going to make it sooner or later, though, as was Pure_LionHeart. That means 17 WOULD have made it back soon and 15 would remain off it. Eh....

We'll see. But 150 getting knocked off... is quite the blow compared to 32 people last time.

Indeed it is. But it's also a lot harder to do now that JUST 10k posts won't get you on the list, so... in a way, that's kinda a good thing for discouraging spam.

Ouch. You really feel that way? I didn't think I was a prolific poster at all. I mean, on weekdays I barely manage to make 3 or 4. And on week ends I'll end up making about 15 per day if I can manage it. Which I usually can't and end up with 10ish. So for a normal week I get about 60ish posts. I didn't think that was a whole lot. Also I get 70 experience a week. And I usually manage 15 protects on weekdays and 30 on weekends. So that's about 150 per week. So I was thinking I'd get protects, then experience, then posts. Then in about 50~60 years I'd make 10,000 reviews. XD

Yes we did indeed discuss this. So hopefully no one starts complaining that this came without warning or anything. The posts by Wade this week, and my saying I'd stop using NG Lister if that's what he wants... should have signalled ANYONE paying attention that this was indeed coming if they'd heard the earlier talk of the 1x->2x transition possibilities.

As for the 2x10k list, I've put a bit of thought into that. .... I have a LARGE tracking list for it now. Like 350 people in the spreadsheet, but only 30 on the list. That means around 320 people I'd have to check all the time manually...

Now, IF liljim comes back to town and says using the NG Lister is fine, for now, in small doses... then I would have no problem checking to see who needs to be on this list. However, if he says no, we should continue to not use the program at all... or if our profiles change to the point that NG Lister is useless... or BOTH... then obviously, manually checking EVERYONE is a pain. I learned that yesterday. It took FAR longer to manually check everyone... than it did to pull the 30 people for the list. Easily.

So, I am indeed thinking of making it "tell me if you just got doublelisted" as a requirement for entry. However, for now, I know who is close to 10k in two stats, and I will be doing fine checking on my own. I'll be sure to let people know, however, if that changes and I need people to notify me. The problem is that there will always be people who end up qualifying for this list but who do not read this thread and don't post on Wi/Ht?. So there ya go.

Yes, even more importantly than it lessening the workload... is the "more elite" part. Because the 1x10k version of this list was at 180 people 2 weeks ago, and would have hit 189 people yesterday... and by a month or so from now, it might very well have been over 200 people.

That's TOO large and TOO wide a listing. Featuring tons of retired people who hit 10k exp and hardly have any other stats. This new form of the list ENSURES people who are on the list are more balanced in what they do on the site. You either need to be getting exp for YEARS + doing something else... or getting tons of blams BUT ALSO tons of saves so you're not just one-sided... and if you post a shitload (ZeroAsALimit, for instance) you must also do something else to get on the list. Etc. etc. etc.

You have a triplelisting coming in about... 242 days (when you'll be hitting 10k exp), so... until then, you have two options: relax, slow down, and just let blams + exp take you onto the list... OR... you can, as you said, post more and ensure you get back here sooner.

Seeing as how you've been off the list since August 2004, when the QuadList was dropped... I really do hope you pick #2, so you can get back on here a bit quicker than the end of 2005. #;-}>

1,020 exp ~ 1,000 exp = 100 deposits ~ 3 months = 1/4 a year
