Yeah, that's actually how it's been for me for most of his parodies. Often, a year or two (or more) after I listen to his CD's, I'll hear a song on the radio, and say, "Oh! That's what he's parodying..."

I had a gift certificate, so I went to Target to get some new CDs. Unfortunately, they were sold out of Apocalypse. Looks like I'll have to get my copy from Amazon.

Damn. That sucks when you go for something specific and they are sold out. But as you said you can get it through other places. I know you'll enjoy the new album.

Weird Al is coming to Atlanta in October! I am going to buy tickets either today or tomorrow. I want some friends of mine to buy tickets too so that we can at least try to sit together. I haven't seen Al live in at least seven years so I'm really looking forward to it!

As it also turns out there is a Comedy Central special about his tour that is on tomorrow at 9 I think. Since I'll be at an actual Al concert I won't be able to see the TV special.. It works out. :P

I wonder if he does any signings or anything? The last time I was at an Al concert was the year his parents died and he was understandably in no mental state to interact with fans.

Just got back from the concert. Wow. It was awesome!!!! I went with a friend who has only been to two concerts (none of which were Weird Al) and his reactions to the act that went along with the music was a lot like mine when I saw it for the first time. Awe and laughing the entire time.

The Saga Begins features a line of Storm Troopers, Boba Fett, R2D2 and Darth Vader dancing along to the song. This was one hell of a show from start to finish.

I saw Weird Al on the fifteenth of September, at the Puyallup Fair in Washington State. It was good to see he was still alive and kicking, and he even came up to my mother when he was doing the whole "tiger-striped red suit, going out to the audience and saying funny pick-up lines" bit.

One thing was kind of disappointing though; while he had new songs, his videos and overall routine were the same as the other two times I had seen him at that fair so many years ago. Same fake interviews with Eminem and the rest, (mostly) the same cartoons mentioning him in an offhand joke, etc.

Oh hey, i'm still alive. And I saw that Al had tweeted that he is currently in production of a new album, but offered no detail other than that. I can't even guess when it would be released... I'm sure once he is back in the studio recording a bunch he will put up more updated.

Speaking of twitter.. I was amused by his posting of his daughters "would you rather" bit. Al is a vegetarian and his daughter asked him if he would rather eat a plate of snot or a steak. Funny stuff.

Sweet. New Weird Al album. He was just in town a few months back but at a Casino and it was 21 and older to go to the concert or I so would've been there.

It came out in about 2004, it was really funny. It was one of those early viral videos that got shared via emails.

Yeah, White & Nerdy was a big hit for him but I mean he's made big hits out of most big hits. He's a genius.

Today is the day that the MLP episode with Al will air. I won't be able to see it until much later tonight due to work. I'm really looking forward to it. I do know that it will be a mostly musical episode and his character's name is Cheese Sandwich.

It was fantastic! Easily my favorite episode of the season. The songs were all great and he did an excellent job with his voice acting. Cheese Sandwich was a really fun character and it was a nice touch to have him have glasses when he was shown as a younger version of himself.

I'm trying to think no what was the first thing I ever heard from Al and how I was introduced to him. I know I was in middle school, probably in the 6th grade when a friend let me listen to some of his songs. I think it might have been Smells like Nirvana since that was right around the time when I was discovering that music. I know Amish Paradise was also an early favorite of mine.

As is still somewhat the case I ended up finding music by finding out what Al was making fun of. Laugh if you wish but I was not really familiar with M. Jackson when I was a kid. It was only after I heard songs like Eat it and Fat that I wanted to hear the original stuff.

This came up in a discussion with a friend. When Weird Al played tambourine in one of Hanson's music videos.

Can't wait for it to come out. My only problem is that I really haven't been listening to anything current so some of what he will parody will be lost on me. I'm sure there will be plenty there for me to enjoy though.
