It's one of those things that could feel kinda yucky, and realistically the AP would probably need a lot more traffic before it could really pay off for individual artists - so until then it would just annoy people. :)That's good, Tom, but how about putting advertisements IN the Audio Portal? You know, while the music's playing. Instead of (or alongside the) audio visualizations. And just as another suggestion, the audio advertisements could be related to the music genre category that the audio is submitted into. So that jazz music could have advertisements for jazz-related concerts, musicians, CDs, instruments, venues, websites, etc.
Yeah, on second thought... I just read this discussion where a guy describes getting 69 cents for about 60,000 views on his flash game. I'd be getting much less than a cent per song at that rate. Definitely not worth it.
If it ever did become profitable, though, I don't think I'd go for audio advertisements; that would be pretty annoying for listeners. What's wrong with visual on-screen advertisements in that setting? After all, there's that big space in the middle of the screen that's not doing much. A listener would have to keep that page open for the duration of the song... and his eyes would not be distracted.
Although at this point, it's a pointless question really.
