Damn you Antivirus 2009!!!

Please, people, take your time and read this, and help me if you can.
A few days ago, i was just hanging around the internet, while everything was going fine, some goddamn program called "Antivirus 2009" installed itself to my computer and started to make annoying pop ups. Now, it always says "Windows Security Alert! 279 infections found!!!" umm...WTF? My computer would be "dead" by now if it had 279 viruses! I ran my VirusScan to see if it is true, but no viruses were found. I found a way and deleted the program, but it was never gone. Now, it makes silly pop ups like the ones i mentioned every time, and there is NO WAY to delete it!
At first, i thought if it was just an advertisement or a fake program, but it even seems to have a website and on sale. I'm fucking sick of it. Everytime i click "Remove threats", it asks for an activation code. When i click "get license", the link i just gave you appears. If i buy the program and remove the threats -i don't want to, i already have VirusScan- maybe it will stop making pop ups, but i don't want to. It's like buying something by force! So, do you have some ideas people?

You have rogue anti-spyware. You might have to use SmitFraudFix to get rid of it completely.

It is possible to get rid of just by removing all of the files and deleting it from the registry, but that doesn't always work. A good anti-spyware program can also get rid of it, but you might have to use it in safe mode.

Your best bet is to start> control panel> add or remove programs.

Or right click the icon> properties> open file location? uninstall.

Also delete Limewire because I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it was the cause.

It's the nastiest type of virus i've ever come across. Had it before on my old computer and gave up trying to delete it, as my whole computer was fucked by then. You must of clicked something for it to download onto your PC, or you took off your firewall.

Yea i had it too, it kept popping up and i couldn't get rid of it...

in the end it just dissapeared, hopefully it didn't do any damage and after i ran an avg anti-virus search it found nothing so i presume it didn't do any damage as i hadn't clicked on it...

Same thing I had. Except mine was called VirusHeat. The SmitFraudFix works beautifully.

It's a rouge anti-spyware program notorius for spamming computers and scamming money from millions of poor, uneducated saps. Some symptoms include the annoying pop-ups, the program actually creating viruses in your system to try to get you to buy the "full version", and fake crashing your computer. What's worse, if it stays long enough it can even convince the real MS Security Center that it's legit and needs to be purchased instead of a fake popping up.While normally it is downloaded when someone acts stupid and actually says "hey, that must be from windows. I'll download it!!", it can also piggyback its way in on trojan viruses, most notably the 'zlob' trojan.

Not only that, but there are many different incarnations of this and, to make matters worse, a computer can be infected by multiple versions at a time. My computer, for instance, is currently infected with AntiVirus 2010, the most recent version of this scum. It is possible to get rid of the main problem just through a normal spyware scan (though some, such as Mcafee, don't pick it up in their scans), but the hidden files will stay and continue to wreak havoc. One backup effect also seems to be the inability to log into a vast amount of websites, though newgrounds and facebook are thankfully exempt from this. :D

You know, that same shit happened to my computer a couple of months ago and I had to re-install my OS. It got to the point that whenever I tried to close it or remove it, my computer would freeze... so there was no way of me getting access to the internet to see what the problem was.

Its Malware! DownLoad Avira Antivir its free and it protecs your computer from that by alerting you about them and giving you a choice on what to do with them (quarintine, deny access, delete, etc)
I hate to sound like im advertising or something but that happened to me last week and I almost got screwed over big time! all those virus thingys that pop up on the free scan are fake and when it does that it'll show you the Security center on Control Panel, wheb that happens, dont close it, go to start, and then to Control Panel and open up your Security center, then you'll see,that the differebces are subtle but noticeable, then it'll look like your computer has opened Command in start, and load a Blue screen to scare you, then it'll look like its restarting, ITS NOT DO NOT BUY IT IT"LL JUST UPLOAD MORE MALWARE downloading Avira Antivir is good for cheap bastards who want good protection
