A late "Merry Christmas" to all of you!
With my laptop still not fixed, I'm not in the forums as much as I used too.
Enjoy your holidays!
ok guys, in a few days im gunna start an art collab, its gunna be kinda like the shmup project, but a platformer, where you guys design the levels, what i need from you guys are level ideas, which you guys can then draw pieces of to make a multi level platformer, so, i need ideas, i know i want a basic grassland/forest ish level like that one every platformer has, but what else would you guys like, im limiting the collab to 4 - 5 levels, so 3 - 4 ideas from you guys, examples if possible, iv thought wasteland, futuristic, anything you guys want in it?
brainstorm GO!!

Start it after the game jam right? as for level ideas: Id love a prehistoric level, other than that most things have been done I think.

Level ideas,
Canopy of a Manic Rainforest
Candy Land (Hey, why not?)
From an army of tanks, eventually getting on a huge enough tank to board a fleet of airships, a la SMB3v(Not the same equipment, though)
Gold Mine
China Shop/Auction House
Free Fall
Also, how difficult should the final product be, in theory?
I have nothing to say that is at all relevant.
Fine Art Vs. Illustration
The way I moderate and maintain the section goes something like this
Fine art = traditional media, with a few digital exceptions
Illustration = Digital media with a few fine art exceptions
3D = 3D programs
Pixel = Pixel style
Other = Stuff that doesnt fit in any category (fractals, which should be banned by the way, and sculptures or other stuff)

depends how complicated i make it, i want each level to be a respectable length, so they should take a time to play through, difficulty will only be if i take kakashis idea of incorporating water, or a water level, of couse theres the problem of getting the art, and enough of it, and making people submit it with transparent backgrounds so the background is consistent, really, its more up to the imagination of the person making the part of the level what they want to do, i can incorporate tunnels, buildings the player can walk through, water, coins/score, enemys, environmental hazards/damage but id rather keep this one simple, if its successful il make it an annual thing
if you mean difficult as in gameplay, sorry for the rambling, i want to keep it kinda simple, the art is the main focus of it, but i dont want the levels to be completely flat, i want some variation, full rules, facts etc will be in the real thread, sorry for the rambling
TL;DR dont ask me questions

FINE, I DIDN'T WANNA VOICE FOR YOUR STUPID GAME ANYWAYS >:(
Also, I didn't know you knew how to program.

I was thinking: wouldnt it be cool to have just one level, where you can enter portals to play that same level in a different setting (underwater, prehistoric, space w/e) off course, each different setting would have its own little differences (low gravity in space; cool dinosaurs in prehistoric) so that you would need to visit each setting to complete the level. That way you can make the art a more central thing.

Platforming programming is quite easy and fun, to be fair.
Most platformers tend to be unimaginative, no challenge, and the level design ugly as sin.
Game ideas

... that is all.

i want each levels layout to be different, give the game a bit of variation, ill use the portals thing for going between levels, may put in small animations between levels to cut up the gameplay a bit, but i wont start this till after the game jam is over, also had the idea of easter egg levels, like super meat boy did, and one of the fany pants did
Make every level a grass level but change the color of the grass.
No wait, do a level where everything is big, a level where you're in the internet/computer, an acid swamp level, a city made out of music related things but mostly music notes...you know, the basic ideas.
Who is the hunter?

The touch or the pen, cause the touch doesn't come with a pen and if you're trying o do art with a touch, yeah, it's gonna be very difficult. kinda like finger painting.
Hubby says it's Pen AND Touch. I probably won't use the touch feature.

I also came across this site the other day... not sure if all of 'em are covered by art101 or not.
So I got Windows 7 for christmas, just installed it today.
A few hours later and it's running beautifully.

Yeah, I upgraded from Vista, and wow, it's running significantly faster.
Restarts in about a minute, and from log in screen to fully loaded desktop is barely 20 seconds.
The bar at the bottom is rather simple to understand, I don't see what's confusing about it.
