Half of the runner-ups were way better than some of the top 5 imo, but My NG was a good cartoon :).

My god, I still remember LAST year's major submissions. The year is going by too quickly.

I'm surprised It's a Halo Thing only made runner up, despite it being a bandwagon fan-flash, it was quality work with grade A art, animation, script and voice acting.

wow, i was sure "It's a Halo Thing" would have made it to top five. I'm just as surprised as the Awesome's Creed being a top 5 animation last month.

oh well.

December felt slow to me for some reason...I may just be recovering from a bored for 2 1/2 weeks though.

A number of people would like to make it to Comic Con each year and meet up with everyone and hang out.
The expenses of the trip usually keep them from doing so.
Perhaps this would make an interesting prize for upcoming competitions.

If they're made in flash they're technically still animating.

Hell you're technically still animating IN FRAMES when you're filming something.

I don't see why must hold such a bias. I mean I understand that a lot of videos are usually stupid.

But you can paint with a camera just as much as with a flash brush. If you know what you're doing...

To do the things in Flash that a newbie could do with a camera would take generations. Like literally, to animate all the movements of a person in a 60 second film segment, I would have to work into my old age and then pass the cartoon down to my hypothetical son, who would continue to work where I left off. It's an entirely different art than filming, which already gets crazy exposure on sites all across the net.

Flash deserves its own sacred place. Until then, Newgrounds will have to do (bahaha that was like a joke only not as funny).

Ah, like "My Newgrounds"? Well, obviously stuff like Afro-Ninja's "How to be a Guitar Hero" (which was nicely thought out, long, and well edited considering it was a one-man-production) are deserving of the attention they get. And yeah, making a "real film" takes just as long if not longer than it does to make a "real cartoon", but I haven't seen much of either around here ;)

Yes exactly, someone might be inclined to vote for an animation of that nature, but then see tom's little "NO VIDEOS" note and not vote for it.

lmfao seriously

i can say from experience, a well animated flash takes about ten times as long to make as a well edited film. ive made numerous decent live action films that i edited, in their entirety, in the course of a few days. i've also made numerous flashes that got so complex and difficult that they've taken months, even years to make... and im STILL not finished with em.
and if you want to get into it even more, a traditional animation takes ten times as long as both a flash and a film combined.

in short, dont act like you know the first thing about flash animation when you've never made one yourself
