Fact; Ripping sprites from a videogame is harder than animating with sprites.
Fact; Finding sprites ripped from videogames is easy as shit.
Fact; Bitmap tracing and animating sprites is easy as shit.
Fact; Making custom sprites based off an existing character model is easy as shit.
Fact; The only people that would use pre-existant graphics to animate are either people who can't draw, or people who are seriously lazy (ie Alvin Earthworm).

I've worked some with low-definition pixelized graphics myself, and I can guarantee that it's much harder to do stuff from scratch in comparison to just making slight edits to sprites stolen from classic videogame no. 3246. However, that still doesn't make it hard work; It just takes a bit longer than drawing it with vector based tools, and is actually EASIER because you have more control and because errors are easier to both detect and fix.

There's nothing good about sprite animations or ripped sprites in general. While I do respect the people that take the time to make sprites from scratch, it's still much easier than conventional drawing and animation ever will be. This whole idea is bullshit; Sprite "artists"/"animators" deserve all the hate they get, and more. What they DON'T deserve, is to be recognized as "talented", or even rewarded for what they do. Of course, me typing all this up won't matter jack shit since none of you are willing to accept the fact that you are thieves and that your precious Super Mario Bros Z is an unoriginal pile of manure. Heck, even that god-awful TTA thing can be considered to be better than SMBZ, and that's saying something.

Sigh... whenever there's a void, someone always fills it. Let me explain it now, so we don't argue later:

*Everyone has an opinion.
*Our opinion is that spite movies are (or have the potential to be) every bit as good as, or better than, any flash out there.
*Other peopole hate sprite movies. We respect that.
*Some of those peopole write unessesarily bad reviews or make hate flashes about them. We accept that.
*Some of those some peopole submit said reviews and hate flashes to the portal, thus spamming the portal (in the opinion of us sprite lovers). We don't respect or accept that.
*If peopole want to make hate flashes or rude comments, they can put them on their own website. Instead, they spam the portal. SPA's goal is to put a stop to that.

Right now I seriously doubt you can come up with anything to counter what we are saying and doing, other than claiming that we are "spamming the portal". Crazyoy said this before, if you dont like this, make your OWN thread and leave us sprite-lovers alone!

Yeah, you do. That "movie" was probably just some old and shitty thing Shrums fileswapped because he didn't like it, and it's only purpose is to offend and piss people off rather than win awards.

You are an idiot, and your opinion is void; The big thing here is the amount of work and skill that is required when working with classic animation in comparison to just ripping and editing graphics from videogames, and how people who actually work to make new and exciting works of art get no exposure or awards due to overrated garbage that's pretty much just some Mario sprites running around with a few lame fart jokes thrown in for good measure, THIS being a good example of what I'm talking about; It's both creative and technically impressive, yet has a ridiculously low score for what it is. I've worked with all of these mediums, and I know from experience what is easy and what isn't.

The ones in the top 50 are just as bad as the rest. Why? It's not just because of the stolen graphics, not just because it's a sprite movie; It's because it's just a bunch of characters taken from elsewhere and with stories and jokes that are equally unoriginal and shitty.

Funny. I also play a hunter on World of Warcraft, so almost everything I do has large, active groups against it. At this point, It's me, Crasyboy, and Alvin against the world!

Sprite Movies, SPAM Movies, Crappy Movies. All three of these in one category yes? Except when a Sprite movie gets an award the SPAM movie makers and usually the crappy movie makers come out of no where to start running there mouthes and bitching that "everything is stolen" "everything is stolen." Well even though everything is stolen they took the time and effort to make a storyline and put it into a very good flash. Here my final words for this little club!

Yes the music and backgrounds and most of the sound effects are stolen, but at least they can put it into a funny interesting flash, unlike the Spammers and and crappy movie makers who hate it when something is better than theres and since they can't run there mouthes at the talented artists they go after the sprite movie makers.
Why? Because they have nobody else to go after.
Sprite movies will be forever loved and adored on Newgrounds and there is no way nobody is going to get rid of them.
Also if you're waiting for Nintendo or Sega to sue them, note that the Sprite Movies are parodies and that if you haven't noticed have given the characters of Nintendo and Sega tons of attention.
