I cant get my n64 cartridge to work

Is it true that if you take it out and blow on the inside of the N64 and the game and then put it in facing forward and then slowly tilt it backwards as the game turns on and then prop it up so it stays that way and then eat an extra bowl of Lucky Charms for breakfast, the game will work better?

Also, does holding B and down while capturing a Pokémon make it easier to catch?
