Nice job gfoxcook. You're an excellent addition to the club. I'm a big statistics fan & enjoy reading your posts. By the way, I recently broke 4,000 protection points and was wondering if you knew where I stood on the list. I remember a while back you said I was somewhere around 13. Have I gone up or down? If you have some free time I'd really appreciate the information. Also, does the blam/protection list roll over every 8 hours? That's the impression I get.

As for the list, well it tends to update more often than the profile rank does (every 6 AM eastern time), but it varies, I think it's manually, as opposed to the automatic profile rank #. At least twice a day most times, but yeah, I've notice it happen 3 times, so every 8-10 hours is probably a good estimate.

Thanks for the sharp eye. I copied them from the profile windows (while they were being refreshed and still say the URL) by eye and hand, so I suppose I was inviting errors, thanks for catching that.

Heh. Yeah, he's pretty close to a 1:1 blam protect ratio as well, like you but a bit on the other side of the perfectly even mirror. While I was reading the old 1-24 pages of "level up!", I was amused to watch Drimarki egging both of you on into competing with each other, and kinda shocked that you started off ahead of him but lost the lead for awhile. I don't think that'll happen again, eh? #;-}>

Anyway...

Well, I don't have stats for EVERYthing, but I've got the exp-related info file I researched and made (and which I sent you, of course), I've got several blam/protect related files, one which has my own progress (how many days it took me to get to each rank I've obtained, a modified form of Ramagi's file, which would be another of my files).... what else.... I've got a lot of saved copies of the top 50 exp, blam/save, and popularity lists, from every few days at least... what else...

and of course, the pride of my collection, the Top 50 Protectors list I'm maintaining in an excel file. I'm not positive the bottom part of the list is 100% accurate, because it includes people who aren't on the top 50 blam/protect list, or used to be on it and have dropped off... and thus there could be OTHER people not on the list (who have say 3000 protects and 10 blams, so they don't have the 4800+ needed total for the list, but obviously should be on my protector list). Luckily, I noticed many people who are on the list, though, like say Afterburner (because he posted in level up). He's got like 2010 protects and 151 blams (kinda inactive right now, though), and Toocool100, who has about 2600 protects and only 52 blams (it used to be 51, I wonder why he made an exception to his "no more blams" rule and blammed a flash.. well, coulda been an accident, I know I've tried to protect something before but been the last vote and you get the blam video and credit for the blam anyway, heh).

... okay, that's enough rambling.

yeah. Your protect rank is somewhere between 50 and 60 right now, I'd guess. #50 currently has about 30 more than you.

Well, I don't have a magic wand I can use to find out the names of everyone standing between you and the top 50 list, but I do have a few advantages to finding out who they might be. For one thing, I've been following the list for almost two months now, and several people have been bounced off the list to make room for the likes of myself, chaotic1, leeboy, lightning, arrows_eleven, Mike277, CTTCrew_12edfox, and others. Hang on and I'll see if I have old saves of the list in htm that will clue me (and you) in to the names and id numbers of those peops that are probably hanging around between #50 and #60 for ya, so you can check their profiles and see when you're getting close to them.

The other way is that several people I've noticed on the BBS or elsewhere that have a lot of protects but not so many blams are in my Top 50 protectors list, and I can quickly and easily tell whether they're ahead of you or not overall by looking up their profiles right now (I have shortcuts to them all in a folder for when I update my excel file). So hang on, I'll do that first, and then the other thing I mentioned up at the top:

okay, those were all I could find easily, now let me check for harder ones the other way...

4285 - #56 - RogerMcAllen (this guy was knocked off the list just a few days before I got on it, IIRC, I got his name from a March 9th save in which he had 4157 points and Recon had 4152, funnily enough, heh #;-}>)
4218 - #57 - Uncle_Dave (this guy I actually DID knock off the list to become #50 around 3/18, I believe. I didn't feel too bad, because although he seemed like a cool oil worker from Texas, he has like 5x more blams than saves, and that means he probably just lucked out by blamming tons of stuff back a few months ago when it was EASY)
4516 - #53 - evil-c (this guy is still hanging in there, but it's doubtful he'll get in unless you guys between #40 and #50 were to stop getting many points like shadow and agent66 already have, heh...)

and so, just to sum up without all my comments, here's all I can find between you and the list, Xkiwizit:

which info? The memberlist (took about half an hour), the people with over 3000 protects list (took little time, but was based on an excel file I've spent maybe 10 hours total on over the past month), or... the people I just looked up for Xkwizit (30 to 60 mins or so)?

Cumulatively it does take some time to make and keep lists and so forth, but then when someone asks something, you can customise data pretty easily and quickly on the fly.

And yes, the User Profile Search would be quite useful. But even more useful to me would be options on the top user pages to expand the list past 50 to 100 or even 200. Although that WOULD make the achievement of getting on the top 50 list a bit less impressive, I suppose, since you'd already be on some other list once you got to EG Private or whatever it is now.

chill, spancker. it ain't happening any time soon. the old one was putting a major strain on the servers. The way it was designed, any searches were slowing down performance elsewhere on the site, like say downloading a flash game or movie, or posting on the BBS, or ANYthing.

Now, assuming this bandwidth doubling happens on the weekend or early next week like Tom Fulp posted about yesterday... there would be more room for things like the user profile search in NG's bandwidth, but I really really really doubt they'd want to bring back the old bandwidth-hogging search and just eat up all the rest of the new bandwidth they're shelling out the cash for. So, you, I, and everyone else will just have to wait until liljim thinks of a really low-data-transfer way to search through the profiles, and that won't be for some time.

Since the second page is filled, I figured I'd start the third page with the actual memberlist, corrected with the error Transformers noticed. Here's the final list till a new member is added, I hope:
