Actually, casual gamers and the like don't get the credit they deserve, and EASILY eclipse standard or 'hard core' gamers by a huge percentage.

Really, the largest volume of 'games' are still played on PCs and as far as just consoles are concerned, the Wii made up massive 43% of the total market share in '09... so almost half, in a market with 3 primary consoles.

And notice, both the Move and Natal will require light to work (PS3 will require a moderate amount of light and Natal will require at least ambient light) which is a huge downer for those of us that like playing games in the dark.

(And again, I have nothing nice to say about the horrific implementation of the PS3 eye.)

For some reason, at this part, the whole time i was reading it i was thinking "Where's he going with this, people who don't have electricity for lights?" and that got into "How do they plug in the ps3 then...?"

What a twist at the end though hey?

Nintendo is cool I guess. I hear a lot more people loving DS games than PSP games and I still love their classic titles. Maybe they switched to Wii instead of continuing using standardized controllers because they have been putting out games longer than the other companies? I have a feeling they thought they were creating one 'type' of gaming experience.

But really there were a few signs. Nintendo loves the fact that people can all play 'together'. N64 had FOUR players standard, built into the system. Playstation did not. They've always wanted to bring people to together locally, which is something I believe in as well.

Playing some games out there get realllyyy boring playing them online with fake people. I think it just appeals because it's convenient.

I dislike Nintendo for what they did with the Wii (opening the floodgates to low quality casual crap). The only time I would enjoy playing with the Wii is when I'm drunk and looking for something to do with friends, only then would I be able to enjoy a few of the huge arse catalog of party games the console seems to have. I'm looking for aspects in games that to my knowledge only a handful of Wii games seem to offer, such as immersion, emotion, proper storylines, lasting gameplay mechanics etc. The lack of proper titles and serious third party support is also appalling. I respect Nintendo for what they have done in the past, but I think the Wii is an absolute piece of crap for gamers like myself, it's okay for grandma's (which is the only tartgetgroup they make ads for nowadays) though.

Wii got streaming Netflix recently.

Where's your "No Movies, Just Games" theory now?!

Most of the things you listed are also reasons people love the wii. It's cheap, and the games are fun. I would also like to see nintendo bust out a real console again though.

I know, they are hardly the most objective arguments :) I wonder what's going to happen in the next generation, I fear a WIi-H3D.

I remember doing something like this a while back, hmm seems so long ago.

Yours is reall nice and smooth to be honest. Are you using vectors or 'ray casting'?

Yea it flows well. My only recommendation would be to make it some sort of duotone or sepia. Black and white is getting boring

Yea this kind of theory and analysis always sparks my interest, it's easy to think games are just silly games, but they mean a lot more than people realize and have a lot more to them in general.

I'm wondering why they started to build that in the first place. Have they ever done anything else that was platform specific? It seems like they should have known it was coming sooner or later....
