No, starving children in Africa cannot make flashes that contain the letter B because they lack computers. Do you exclude Africans when you say everyone?

Response to Clock Day 2006! 2006-08-17 01:27:51

well i guess anyone with a computer can make a flash with the letter be and somehow it wa saved over 150 times so i find that sad

No, people who do not understand a language based on Indo European characters would not be able to find a B on a keyboard with out a reference or guide. Do you mean to exclude Asians?

Although you have a point, you can't say you aren't a little discouraged that so many poser B flashs made it into the portal.

Sure clock day is a celebration and many great submissions were made and contributed. Sure B is a legacy that serves as the cornerstone of the clock crew and thus is the father of clock day, but one B is enough.

It is unfortunate that so many people ride the wake of clock day to get their poor quaility submissions into the portal.

It is even more unfortuante when these people are unaware of clock day and they think they actually deserve the score they got on their low quality 'contribution'

Although there is no reason for that guy to be so upset.

Of course I'm somewhat upset, but only because the day lost it's clockish appeal. It wasn't us pissing people off and hiding a few gems in between, it was a lot of NGers being b/p whores, allowing other NGers to whore out their one frame flashes. Of course I am in not much of a position to say that as I have yet to make a decent flash.

Response to Clock Day 2006! 2006-08-17 02:11:29

But the point is that a flash with just B in it was saved several times. I find that extremly sad.

Objection.

Even asian keyboards have the Indo European characters printed on them (Excluding specialty keyboards).

Do you know Chinese characters by name? If I told a native of Japan to find the B button they would not have a clue what I was saying much less press the right button. And notice I said without a reference or guide.

And that had *nothing* to do with the Clock Crew. I'd be very surprised if any Clock Crew member voted to protect any of the "B" rip-offs.

I understand that you think "B" was crap and shouldn't have been passed. You've missed the whole point, though. The original "B" was posted five years ago. It was surely posted as a joke, but that joke happened to kick off a group of Flash artists who made much better flash based on Clock characters. Clock Day isn't about re-making "B"; it's about making good flash featuring Clocks. It's not the Crew's fault that so many remakes passed, I promise you.

As for the BP whores, it's amazing to me that people don't instead use the opportunity to rack up *blam* points for the one-framer flashes. I got plenty of BP points that day, but I still voted to blam the "B" rip-offs. Sadly, many of them passed anyway -- but only barely. We could have all had blam points instead, had people done the right thing.

Points or no points, I don't mind less-than-stellar flash passing on Clock Day, but I like seeing at least *some* effort behind any flash that's posted to the portal. It really doesn't take that much to spend a little time on a movie. There's no pride in getting garbage passed, no matter what day of the year it is, and I think it's sad that so many people exploited Clock Day as an opportunity to do exactly that.

But that's STILL not the fault of the Clocks.

Response to Clock Day 2006! 2006-08-17 04:06:51

i voted 0 on every flash that was'nt at least 5 seconds long and if it was it was a rare occasion that it would actually be a good flash. I should of just voted 5 on everything and got free save points. ehh what ever

Response to Clock Day 2006! 2006-08-17 04:10:16

viva la spam flashes

From what I know, they'll diminish it to two choices to select between: "B" and "V", apparently.

And notice I said without a reference or guide.

Fair enough, but with English becoming a must-learn in schools (Or some claim)...
