But now, when I turned it on, it's moving much slower than it should.
My desktop is full of screenshots and stuff (png files, macs take advanced screenies lmao), so could that be the problem? :O

i just learned yesterday that every item on your desptop is like having a finder window open. move all the files off the desktop, and it should run faster.
You need to clean up your desktop.
Icons on the desktop are 'ready' which means you're hogging a shitload of memory.

I use an iMac too, so I know how difficult they can be. Sometimes they just feel like doing weird shit, just to piss you off. I suggest restarting it and seeing if it works better then. If it doesn't, delete a bunch of stuff you don't need from the desktop and other places. When that fails, I usually walk away and cry in the corner of the room.

I took bbr/Maus's advice, and it kinda works a bit smoother, I probably should clean up a bit more (I deleted all the screenshots on my desktop :[), but I still have a bunch of other useless crap...

another thing is the dock. clear off a bunch of programs you don't use often, make it so it doesn't resize on rollover, and make it as small as possible, but to where you can still see what's on it.
