Well, let's just say the load balancer upgrade didn't go as planned. I'll have more details at a later date. In the meantime, for those who care, here's the play-by-play:
8:30am - Tim heads out for the datacenter
9:15am - preparation begins (wiring, etc.)
10:00am - new load balancer installed and running
11:30am - Tim leaves datacenter heading back to office
2:00pm - 4-way battle of Rumble Roses XX begins
2:30pm - new load balancer humming along nicely
4:00pm - traffic levels off far below daily average
5:30pm - call placed to tech support
9:00pm - Quizo (which Tim missed) begins :(
9:15pm - tech support call ends
9:20pm - Tim leaves office to head back to datacenter
10:00pm - old load balancer re-installed
Sigh... The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.
Anyway, there will be a far better rollback plan for the next attempt. Please accept my apologies for the downtime.
