You wanna know what annoys the crap out of me? When I'm watching a cool horror movie, and somewhere in the middle of the theater there's a small group of asshat 16, 17, and 18 years-laughing hystarically when someone gets killed. What the hell is their problem? How the hell is "The Ring", "The Grudge", or "Saw" funny? I swear every time someone dies in these movies some teen is laughing, and when I hear that I just wanna go up to them, steal their wallet, rip their tounge out of their mouth, and mutilate them! I don't get how murder and sucide is funny. >:(

They ae laughing so they will seem cool in front of their friends. Laughter is often a persons way of covering up when they are nervous, paranoid, or even scared.

They think it's better to laugh than to show any type of anxiety. Truth is, they look more foolish trying to cover up their emotions.

Nothing says hardcore like watching someone sneak up and kill someone in a movie and then letting out a nervous laugh in an attempt to look cool.

i don't do that beacuse if i did, then after the movie, they would beat the shit out of me. and i don't hide my emotions. if i'm sad, trust me, i will cry. that's right, i have no shame.

What, are we supposed to be horrified watching Paris Hilton get killed in House of Wax? Not likely.

I'm going to see Saw II soon, and if I hear some teen finding it funny that there's a man screaming, needing to dig into his eye, I'm going to break their neck.

How are you supposed to find it funny when a man jumps from a 22 story window in the grude?

Male teens are afraid to be afraid, they try to avoid looking at movies and talk as much as they can when watching movies they know are scarey.

I did laugh at that, actually. That was the only time I've ever laughed at a flic though. I mean, it was so random and stupid, it wasn't a loud laugh though, or to cover any emotions or anything, I just found it funny. It wasn't even on purpose, it just slipped out. But yeah, I hate the kind of people you're talking about, they're mostly the "skaters," I hate skaters (when I saw skaters I don't mean people who skate, it's just a group of people I've come to name as skaters).

Depends. I've never seen "the grude", but given that it's a horror film, how seriously are you really supposed to take it?

Because alot of those movies are kinda dumb, because they die in dumb-ass deaths, like final destination, they died in such dumb over the top ways, it almost was funny, it just depends on how sadistic you are.

I don't think that's really why. I think laughter is usually a startle reflex. Nobody (who's mentally stable) laughed when that Jewish guy on Saving Private Ryan got stabbed slowly in the chest. They laugh when something unbelievable to what they understand or startling happens. In the cases where it's something unbelievable, it'll be like where someone is ripped in half or blown to pieces because that's not how people die in everyday life. It's not normal to us to comprehend it. In the case of being startled, it's because our mind, instantly after realizing there's no danger, sends you back to normal. We find it funny (both subconsciously and consciously) that we were scared for no reason. It's the same with shock value, which ties my two points together. You laugh and go "holy shit! that lady's arm got torn off!" (DOOM) because it's insane.

yea, what he said.. people often laugh only when in front of friends, but i bet you if they watched it alone or with somoene else theyd think differently

Nothing near as loud that weould ruin another movie goers experience though, just a slight giggle to myself.
