Hmm that's a tough one. If you can figure out why you're sad you might be able to go to the source of it, and do something about that? If it's not so easy, or if you can't do anything about it, then a few things that might help:

Exercise. Your body produces endorphins, and dopamine, and serotonin, and basically all kinds of chemicals that make you feel better when you exercise, so any kind of exercise is good. Even just a walk if you don't have the energy for more.
Crying actually releases serotonin too. So if you're really sad then that's actually a way you can overcome it.
Meditation, music, maybe an inspiring movie, or game, or just being with people you enjoy being with? Anything that can either distract you or inspire you, or that you like doing.

Hope you get over the sadness. It's a part of life though, sometimes it's good sometimes it's not... part of learning to be happy is really learning to accept sadness too sometimes. It'll get better.
