At this point I think it would be really cool if we let people choose from three layouts:

1) Classic Grid, when you want to just eyeball tons of art at once.
2) Instagram-style grid, with larger thumbnails. More scrolling but everything gets more real estate.
3) Feed style, where you see full art piece and can just scroll forever.

I like the idea of infinite scrolling with thumbnail. But a feed style in my opinion is too impersonal. Maybe is just the way I like browsing the art portal, but when I click on a piece of art, it gives you a moment with it, a moment to vote, a moment to read and write reviews and, most importantly, a moment to interact with the artist.

But honestly a dream feature of mine would be support for comics or multiple pages. Maybe it's just me but I always feel like a butt when I flood the art portal with different variation of a picture. I try to avoid doing it. Even if it was a feature only available to approved users that would be great. Or like you're limited to a max of 10 pages without admin approval. or something. I'd love to use it for something like multiple gifs, something too small for the movie portal. and not worth the trouble of making a gallery for the games portal.

This seems better than Tumblr. I will enjoy my time here.

Isn't that exactly why a lot of these NSFW artists are leaving Tumblr? Because you can't search for NSFW content. This would be falling into the exact same trap and it would only ruin NG's reputation.

No no no, what tumblr did was prevent anyone from searching the tag! One thing is keeping away something blacklisted from the haters, another is to keep away something NOT blacklisted - or outright directly searched - from the indifferent and the lovers.

Yeah, I know. I thought the person I replied to was making an argument about site-wide blacklisting.

Man, it has been a while. It feels good to come back.

One thing - From the beginning I've been having trouble finding an art portal that can host webms or mp4s. I usually end up with five-second loops that are too big to be converted to gifs. Here, I'd expect to upload them as movies, but I'm not sure the flash portal was ever meant to be used for that... Unless it is, in which case I'll just go do that and try not to get blammed.

Also, speaking of gifs... Is there a filesize limit? I couldn't find one.

Aw shucks, I'm so glad we fumblr refugees have been receiving such a warm welcome here. ^_^

( hopefully my art isn't too crummy to post * '_' * )

Welcome to the NeoGeo hivemind, former-NSFW-Tumblrs!

If you haven't seen it yet, this is a really, really, really good video about what makes Newgrounds, Newgrounds! It's featured on the supporter page!

We all hope you enjoy your time here and we are very pleased to have you in our internet hideaway. I'm sure I speak for most of us when I say we look forward to seeing what sort of lewd (and non-lewd) content you've got to dish out!

Many people have said the concrete foundation of Newgrounds is creativity, but I have to disagree. The way I see it, creativity is a roof; a great expression of protection, held up by the fine userbase here on Newgrounds. We are more than happy to have you in that userbase.

Thanks for joining, and if you have any questions feel free to ask them!

The kind of old they just don't make anymore!

I'm new here as well. Not sure where even to begin though. I'm a tumblr artist but most of the people I followed and followed me have moved on. I don't really know where to begin. I ran a NSFW art blog- nothing crazy or hardcore. I sailed alot of ships where the crew member and captain was me- so Idk if this is the place for me yet. I might just disappear into obscurity and let that be that. Anyways I'm here for now. Hello!

Incoming artists - your art will primarily appear on your user page until you've been scouted by another artist in the community. You need to upload four pieces of art before you are eligible for scouting.

Guess I will get scouting lol

A lot of sites have started to "accidentally" purge 18+ artist (I remember a while ago certain artist on twitter saying that new posts from them had like no likes/retweets/comments even though they have a pretty active fanbase, and DA has been on the purge for a while now.)
I did not know what the situation on newgrounds was, but looking at it now, I confidently direct a lot of the not too popular artist buds to take a shot with this site.
Hell even I have decided to come back(I was once a middle level lurker on here during my teen age)

I've personally never understood how Tumblr and Twitter have been so financially viable while hosting adult content. We've been getting a very clear message for almost 20 years - the majority of brand advertisers / agencies / ad platforms will not touch Newgrounds unless we move the adult content off the site.

Tumblr and Twitter skated around that with better PR and keeping things tucked away in individual feeds but it's probably catching up to them over time. NG meanwhile has acclimated to scratching by without big brand advertisers.

It's possible that major sites have or are going to implement a "sort/ show popular post/ creators" feature, and no matter what happens, a talented NSFW artist will always be one of the top results. So when advertisers go pocking around they will see the pin up/ smut and run for the hills.
So instead of trying to code around this issue, they just went "Yeh lets just kick these people with a 50k+ follower count of the platform! Nothing will go wrong."

...
ALSO HOLY SHIT TOMFULP REPLAYED TO ME WHAT THE HELL :D

In my Opinion, there is a need for a Safe and Welcoming Community for NSFW Artists. Sites that are "Safe" for Kids are generally "Unsafe" for Adults. I don't see the moral high ground there.

For those of you that came from Tumblr, you might as well be refugees from an tyrannical country.

Welcome to the Free World.

You're the one dude with an underground shelter while these large sites are getting hit with the nuke. You have been preparing for this.

Super grateful to be here. Inspired by all of you, even when life throws you detours, speed bumps, and cliff edge skids over the years.

I enjoy seeing and hearing what this community comes up with.

It would be great if we expanded to have a Newgrounds music label (distribute with Bandcamp, Tunecore, Ditto Music) where we could release best of NGs per month or semi annual to promote NGs and the artists on here.

I think it is time for Newgrounds to have a PC & Android app store, limit apps and games to 300MBs or so. So we can sell and support NGs even more.

Thoughts?

I really like the development of NG as a free haven from the big "social" networks.
I'll still stick to sci-fi and fantasy landscapes though. But I'm open to collaboration ! ;)

What a great welcome.

My NSFW Tumblr hasn't been purged (...yet...) but it does feel pretty inevitable. Twitter is all right, but I'm a little more portfolio driven.

Anyway, I was looking through options and this post is what won me over. I've already put in my year's support in thanks -- see you 'round the grounds.

I'm one of the new artists who arrived as a result of tumblrs recent crackdown. Haven't been hit myself but it's equally as discouraging and made me realise that it's definitely up to us (artists) to ensure we're not dependant on a single platform.

Not gonna share links to my stuff here because it's nsfw, and I don't want to upset anyone lol

That has me wondering two things...

1. How does the NG community feel about an influx of porn artists? Is that troublesome or off putting?
2. Is furry art welcome here? I have an amazing furry artist friend but she feels like she'd piss people off because furry art has such a bad rep.
