I've seen plenty of ugly people take photos normally whats so wrong with that?

For some it might be an issue of self confidence. Their smile and teeth might look cute to someone else, but hideous to them. To a point where it becomes second nature to cover their mouths.
They're clearly half-assing their own safety. To effectively prevent the camera from removing one's soul, an individual must completely hide his/her face in the picture. If that's not possible, at least try to cover the top half of the face. Soul removal is much easier through the eyes, rather than through the mouth. That's why they are referred to as "the gateway", after all.

Some ugly people are more self conscious about themselves over other ugly people. Also, some attractive people are also conscientious about certain parts of their bodies, too
I believe it's called being mysterious and sophisticated.

I was going to reply this, but I suppose mono is just as good. When half the marching band got it in 2014 from sharing water bottles, they finally decided it was time to get an Octopus. That was a good 100 people running around with mono when all it would have taken was telling the idiots not to touch the bottles to their mouths. I was lucky enough not to get it, thanks to good sense and some mild paranoia.
