I do get curious about that myself. When Kim Jong il died, it was impossible to truly detect whether the N. Korean population was in fact upset over the loss. I mean, people HAVE tried to escape the nation in the past, so it's evident that there are at least some amount of people who resist all the bullshit and just go along with it, but even those who successfully ran away were so affected by gov't propaganda they found it hard to live in Westernized countries.
The way I see it, I have a feeling that the government's very slowly starting to lose its grip on even more on the populous. It's widely known that Un just isn't as strong a leader as his father, and so that's why.
