There have been literally dozens (if not HUNDREDS) of end of the world predictions. If it says it's going to happen on a specific date, you know it will be false. In fact, most prophecies are like that. Granted, the ones who will say it will end in the distant future or a specific year will probably be wrong too.

Yeah, all of the predictions for the end of the world have turned out be wrong, largely because they were made by either silly superstitions or improbable coincidences that people soon forget about. In other words, no end of the world, no apocalypse, move along folks, nothing to see here.

there are numerous ways the world could "end as we know it". Asteroids could come from outer space and smash into the planet a sun in the distance could supernova creating a gamma burst that could melt our atmosphere or even a renegade black hole flying through space could suck up the planet in an instant. Any of these possibilities are very low on the actuality scale but that doesnt mean it couldnt happen.I doubt it would happen in our life time the chances of aliens taking over the planet are greater....
I really hope the world ends in the next few years because other wise I'll be to old to enjoy it....
In the meantime i'll just have to settle for Fallout 4

well imagine the super drought in 20 years. Imagine how the world over there will be no food for anyone/everyone. Crops will fail for many different countries.
What will happen? War will break out. Our "world police" will begin to act as intermediary for collapsing countries, when chaos breaks loose for everyone. Long term? What will be collator failure? War. If we "lose" this international policing for the years of extreme world-break down. Nuclear war will occur, everyone will start nuking everyone. The world will become a barren mess. An empty world, with a marginal population that we have now. Imagine a multi-billion person war? You would be lucky if you died in combat instead of pestilence.
