Dammit, Viper. All those links in your 2 posts back to back is taking a toll on my computer. I can't even scroll down the page in this thread without Firefox stalling every minute or so.

Getting back on topic, nothing says 80s then the theme to the original TRON.
The only thing that gets close to 80s like that is Van Halen's album 1984

Fuck all that noise bro.

When it comes down to it, and you want to listen to a real classic then listen to Eric Clapton's cover of JJ Cale's Cocaine

you know the 70s are crying for you

PS

If you really want some 80s try out Phil Collin's In The Air Tonight

Their first two albums were both great, but Theatre of Pain and Girls Girls Girls, and pretty much everything to come all make me want to kill myself.

Saints of Los Angeles was a cool song, though.

You never specified a genre, just a time period, so I assume you're up for just about anything:

Grim - Bourgeois [1986] - Album title: Folk Music. Power electronics, harsh noise.
Julee Cruise - The Nightingale [1989] - Album title: Floating Into The Night. Sultry dream pop, although best known for her theme tune for Twin Peaks.
John Zorn's Snagglepuss [1989] - Album title: Naked City. Jazz grindcore fusion.
Tom Waits' Tango Til They're Sore [1985] - Album Title: Rain Dogs. White man piss-drenched blues.
Tatsuro Yamashita's Merry-Go-Round [1983] - Album title: Melodies. Japanese funk/disco pop vibes. A heavily sampled artist by future funk producers.
King Crimson's Frame By Frame [1981] - Album title: Discipline. Progressive rock tinged with Talking Heads' funk influence.
The Gerogerigegege's Anal Beethoven [1987] - Album title: Senzuri Champion. Lo-fi, crusty noise rock/noisecore jam.
Fela Kuti's Africa Centre Of The World [1980] - Album title: Fela & Roy Ayers. Afrobeat, jazz, funk.

If any of these tracks appeal to you, I would highly recommend listening to the full albums they are taken from. I've tried to share a variety just in case if one sound didn't appeal to you as much as another might. Of course, I know you were probably more interested in the retro sound of synth pop and italo-disco, but I hope you find something else you might enjoy in my post too.

Mine has been working fine (I haven't played any yet, though).

I have been listening to a local radio station with an 80s focus, 95.3 (and now 101.1) The Eagle.

It seems a lot of your listings I am unfamiliar with. I am not very familiar with Iron Maiden...but still feel disappointed that you left out The Trooper...

Glad you included Rush, though I seem to like Subdivisions more.

Oh, and that radio station has some hair metal to it...and a lot of Van Halen over the years. No links, since I won't take the time to do so, but the list of what I have heard (not including Sammy Hagar):

Jump
Dance the Night Away
Jamie's Crying
Ain't Talking About Love
Unchained
Beautiful Girls
Panama
Runnin with the Devil
Finish What Ya Started
And the Cradle Will Rock
Hot for Teacher
I'll Wait
Black and Blue
You Really Got Me (cover, begins with an Eruption)
Oh Pretty Woman (cover)
Dancing in the Street (cover)

I believe in the ultimate triumph of evil over good in this world.

It doesn't help that we keep funding our enemies.

Well it really only does it for me when I have more than one opened up. But other than that it runs kinda okay.

Yeah I know. I just like Die With your Boots On more. I feel I made up for it with Phantom of the Opera, Wrathchild, Hallowed Be Thy Name, Rime Of the Ancient Mariner, and Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son though.

Glad you included Rush, though I seem to like Subdivisions more.

I honestly forgot Subdivisions was on Signals....went straight for New World Man.
