Best George Lucas/Spielberg Movie?

In your opinion, what's the best movie that George Lucas and/or Steven Spielberg been involved in and why?

(I highly suggest doing a movie marathon of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg films right now)

Hard to say which was truly his best, but I personally found A.I. Artificial Intelligence to be particularly good. Spielberg is such a good filmmaker that picking only one of his films as his best is, IMO, impossible.

For George Lucas, though, the obvious answer is Star Wars.

But which Star Wars movie is the best one?

Empire. That was easy.

I guess Star Wars. The only other one I saw was Raiders of the Lost Ark and while I think it's good, I also think it's overrated.

I'm not sure if this is anything to consider, but Lucas didn't direct that one, or episode six for that matter.
Isn't the idea that he didn't direct them make it not just a George Lucas movie?
Yes he wrote them, produced and edited them, but he was not a director of them.
I'm actually not sure how it works to be honest..... Is it the idea that he wrote them the main aspect of credibility?

The criteria of this thread was involved in. And yeah, I'd argue that writing, editing and producing count. It really bugs me that director is the only off camera person anyone considers.

Will the 7th Star Wars movie be the best Star Wars film of all time? Or will it crash and burn in comparison? Stay tuned for when it comes into theaters, folks!

Jurassic World better hold up to its predecessors as well! It better not end up being a big steaming pile of dinosaur poo!

Probably this as well.
I can't point out any flaws in this film, as far as I can remember.

Seconded.

For George Lucas, it would of course be Star Wars.

empire strikes back is honestly a contender for the best movie of all time so

I actually heard the original Star Wars was the only one that he actually personally directed. Overall for any Star Wars movie. You're probably going to hate me for this, but I thought "Return Of The Jedi" was the best.

If we're only picking from what they've directed, I guess either Raiders or the Last Crusade for Spielberg and a New Hope for Lucas, but Empire was the best Star Wars movie.

The Force Awakens isn't coming out until Winter.

Sadly I don't remember watching the first 3 Indiana Jones movies, I know I saw the second and third at some point but forgot almost all of them and I think I never saw the first one. I should probably make sure to watch those.

I probably have seen many I loved which I didn't recall being theres, so I'm going to go with Return of the Jedi. I know people say it is not as good as Empire Strikes Back, but when I saw it as a child I fucking loved the action it was awesome.

I also watched it on the first re-release boxset on VHS. I never saw the "original unedited" ones, and I loved them! They didn't fuck them up as much as people claim they did on that first re-release the changes were solid. Sure Han Solo shooting first and all that jazz, but I never even noticed he did that as a child all I remembered was the fact he shot the guy dead under the table, even when it was re-released as I saw it I didn't see the shot since I wasn't paying attention to it. Han Solo totally shot first since that was where my attention was set.

Spielberg directed A.I: Artificial Intelligence which I found underrated. I can't get enough of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial because I grew up watching.

Overall, his best is probably Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It's breathtaking.

Jaws is a perfect film.

As in, you could not make a better film about a big shark eating people.

So Jaws.

Which episode?

When someone just calls a single movie Star Wars, I think it's safe to guess that they mean A New Hope. Unless CommunistSock means the entire series...?
