I had similar problems before. Try to remove some Chrome Apps you don't use.

i have few if any apps in the first place.. i highly doubt they're the problem causing my server timeouts. the other people's crashes maybe, but not my timeouts.

It's very possible the only difference between those people who experience the crashing and those who don't is the amount of RAM in their computers.

In other words it's very possible Chrome is so badly designed it eats up so much RAM that if your computer can't keep up it'll just crash on you. Whereas that can happen with other browsers too, but this thread seems to indicate it is a huge problem with Chrome at the moment.

I just tried some HTML5 and Unity games in Chrome on Windows 8.1, and they work fine.
