From what I've seen, the p-bot posts are made 5 minutes or so after awards are given, so it's possible that in that time a submission could've been downvoted to have a lower score than it had when it won the award. Either that or it's some weird glitch with the system, 'cause this isn't the only time I've seen something win a higher award than something else, even though its score was lower.

I always thought the previews had live representations of the submissions current scores, just like I assumed was the case when you posted a link in the forum yourself, but looks like you've been doing more research than I have! Good knowing. That sounds like a reasonable explanation too.
