Yeah, this was a bit too dark, but not as dark as the interdimensional shenanigans.
Yeah that and the end of the Love Potion episode.
Basically, he had to flee his home dimension because earth got cronenberg'd, evacuated to a dimension where they fixed but died shortly afterwards, and then replaced themselves.
Not only he got to watch everything going to shit because of partly his fault, he had to bury himself in his backyard and realized that the reality he's in now is the same "but not quite" and that nothing really matters because of unlimited possibilities.
