I am usually great on making a catchy chord pattern and catchy melody on top of my track, but I always have a block when it comes to adding change up's on the fourth bar or adding extras to the song to keep it interesting.
Anybody have any tips or tricks that help you do this? Thanks.
if you're talking about fills and stuff... it's kinda arbitrary what you do exactly, really
try triplet rolls, alternate syncopation, stutters, retriggers. whatever you want
sometimes taking everything out for a beat or pushing a drop forward so it comes down on the backbeat sounds AWESOME, so maybe give that a shot

Change the length of the notes in the pattern, change the instruments, add transition stuff like drum rolls or sweeps (depends on genre), alter the pattern slightly so the "cadence" is different, create a brand new "B Section" that is completely contrasting to the original idea.
