Forums without "karma" and "reputation" are more free. You act like yourself and don't try to be the nicest guy by posting nice posts to get nice reputation.

This, besides it's bad enough we have a fan system, and if we did have a karma feature, we'd all be in the negatives anyways.

I agree with the OP and would like to see such a feature implemented in the NGBBS.

This sounds like a thing that if implemented that only a crew would give a shit to utilize because it would serve as a new "fuck me and fuck me hard" red light for said crew to actively exploit in an attempt to further underhandedly browbeat the community into conforming to said crew's standards.

This kind of thing usually only ever works when the community is new and the feature was present since the beginning, introducing it into an established community would cause it to serve as a "game changer" as people would attempt to weaponize it against each other.

Wouldn't mind this as a Greasemonkey (only) script for shits and giggles. People who have it can see it and it's not really a core to the site.

A reputation system and/or karma is a bad idea. It would add no value to NewGrounds.
