South Park: Season 16

So, as you guys may or may not know, the newest season of South Park is premiering tonight on Comedy Central at 10:00 P.M. EST. I figured that I might as well make a topic about it so that we can have a single place to talk about the show and its newest episodes.

With that being said, tonight's episode is supposed to be called "Reverse Cowgirl" and has been given the following description on the show's official website: "One of the boys had been told time and time again about leaving the toilet seat up after he goes to the bathroom, but he didn't listen. His actions have consequences and ultimately result in an unimaginable catastrophe."

Seems pretty silly and dumb, but a lot of great episodes of the show sound like that on paper. What are your guys' thoughts on this episode and this season as a whole?

Damn I haven't watched South Park since Season 12 or 13 I think. I want to but then I remember that later they did a Human Centipede parody and I kinda don't want to see that :(

It took me a while to gather the nerve to watch that one, but honestly it wasn't that bad. Just... don't think too much about it and you'll probably be fine.

My excitement has died down a bit for South Park. Theres at least a couple classic episodes every season but they really made that change with Stan leaving at the perfect time. But then they rewound it the next episode.

I stopped watching when it stopped being funny and just started being gross. The first four seasons were classic. After that...it devolved into dickish opinionated satyrical cartoon kiddy porn. When you have a cartoon about children molesting each other, or being molested by adults, and they let that shit stay on the air...you know something is wrong with society.

Just saying. I never disliked the show to begin with, but I don't find it all that funny any more. Just...gross.

Yeah, if you looked at the previews you can see scenes from the episode that show a woman falling into a toilet as well as Randy being forced to wear a seat belt. How the heck would wearing a seat belt while sitting on the toilet protect you from falling in? It wouldn't do much to keep you up. Who knows, maybe Mr. Hankey will have a cameo in this telling people about toilet safety? It could be more of a satire about people being forced to wear seat belts.

I don't care if people watch this, but he asked what I thought of it. I voiced my opinion. Sure, I'm surprised anyone even still watches it. Sure, I believe that the creators are making it worse and worse on purpose to get thrown off the air, because they themselves said they were tired of making it, but do anyway because people keep demanding it.

However, I respect that people find it funny and enjoy the show. I just don't find it all that funny anymore. It's gone the way of the dodo in my mind. I miss the old days when they were just naive fowl mouthed little kids with no political agendas and who didn't shove other little boy's dicks in their mouths.

But alas, those days are gone. Oh well, doesn't mean I'm gonna rain on the parade of those who still enjoy it. To each their own man, I was just responding to the OP's question.

I get you WallOfYawn. I do still like South Park (even if I haven't watched it for years), but the earlier ones I just preferred, well seasons 4 & 5 are probably the highlights for. There was still an air of innocence about it all, the kids being so oblivious to the adult stuff going on. The only real thing that sucked back then was the animation, now its top notch. But 16 seasons is long and shows have to go with the times to stay ahead and that is the direction South Park had to take.

And they still do have some brilliant episodes. I agree about the political stuff though. Its all very topical humour now.

Maybe its time for new friends? South park is more fun to watch with others.

For this season, I'm predicting that the first half will suck.

Once the second half comes around, the episodes will be better, allowing the show to wrap up the season strongly. It's been that way since 2006.

Will it change this year? Beats me but I'm not holding my breath.
