Hey Arnold. I don't think it sucks, I just never get into it. And how can you say that Beavis and Butthead sucks? It's one of the best cartoon shows ever!!!!

Some of old the shows that were on Nick had a certain amount of blandness behind it ,Yet there's some sort of entertaining quirkiness that can't be described.

I'm not making adult cartoons- I hate porn.
I don't mean porn, just ones with thought put into them like a normal show, but animated. I don't think one really exists that isn't anime.
And I loved catdog :(
I think Ren and Stimpy was the best animated show Nickelodeon ever had. It was a cartoon in the classic sense of the word, and it was hilarious.

I don't recall for sure if I ever watched Captain Planet when it was on regular TV but I recall seing it on Cartoon Network and Boomerang in reruns a number of times.
If I did I never really paid attention to it. "Realistic" action cartoons was never my thing.
It is a show gloriying idolatry and witchcraft and that is one of things that was bad about it.
Gargoyles was one of the worst cartoon shows I've ever seen.

Captain Planet incorporated elements of witchcraft and idolatry. They had Gaia coexisting with God- NO SUCH ANIMAL. They had too much female objectificaton. Gaia and the kids used WITCHCRAFT.
Beavis and Butthead had too much perversion going on.

That show was a little funny, but it was really just the poor mans Ren and Stimpy.

Johnny Bravo is mildly funny but that is still overrated and crappy.

Ugh, come on, the objectification in Animaniacs is blatantly meant to be a parody.

Setting aside the utter ridiculousness of making moral complaints about Captain fucking Planet, do you just automatically hate any work that involves a religious belief that isn't yours? I guess that rules out all pre-Christian and Eastern art, plus countless modern works. Oh well, your loss.

They're not bland, they're mellow, something that today's horribly ADD-addled, constantly overstimulated generation doesn't have much of an appreciation for. I think the low-key nature of shows like Hey Arnold, Doug, and Rugrats is a nice alternative to the frenetic energy of most other cartoons, which often seem like they're trying too hard to be wacky. They don't really make shows like that anymore, though.

A true Christian doesn't and can't acknowledge any other god.

It had a cute Asian girl- that is the only thing I liked about it:

But we're talking about works of fiction, stories that take place in invented universes that are not our own. Just because a story includes some sort of deity or religion doesn't mean it's pushing the audience to start worshipping them, especially if they're made-up. And even if they are based on real religions, can't you still appreciate a story on its own aesthetic and narrative merits as a work of fiction without acknowledging its religious overtones as real-life fact?
I mean, I like plenty of works that overtly reference Christianity, and doing so hasn't suddenly made me a Christian. Come on, man, even small children can distinguish between fiction and reality. Surely your faith in the validity of your own religion is strong enough that it won't be rattled by fictional representations of other beliefs in silly cartoon shows.

I know that- but it is obvious the people who write these things are not Christians. If they were they wouldn't include other Gods.

You're missing my point. It doesn't matter what god the writers believe in or what god they make up for the story, because they aren't necessarily trying to make you believe in that god. In fact, in this day and age they almost always aren't. The mere inclusion of spiritual elements doesn't make a work a religious tract.
You're basically telling me that pretending something exists in a fictional universe is the same as acknowledging it exists in real life, and that just doesn't make any sense.

GOD is a real god and all these other gods people worship are not real. The Bible to put no other gods before God.
To include these OTHER gods and put them in the same universe as GOD is blasphemy.
I remember from about halfway in the 90's to the end there was this flood of anime shows for kids coming on TV. I'm talking about shows like Pokemon, Digimon, Medabots, Yu-Gi-Oh, Beyblade etc.
Most of these were pretty terrible and they were all very alike. All with a very similar cast of main characters, similar plotlines, similar ideas, the same amount of cheesiness etc. I suppose one show started it and the rest just wanted to cash in on the hype.
I love Bevis and Butthead, and fairly liked CatDog as a kid. Don't think I would enjoy it now though. Captain Planet I have never seen, because it was never televised on the channels I had as a kid. But from what I gather from the general opinion I guess it sucked.
Otherwise I think the 90's was a good age for cartoons in general. Sure everything can't be as awesome as lets say Batman - the animated series, but most of what I watched as a kid was funny and enjoyable.
I have never watched Toxic Crusaders or Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, but I have heard both shows sucked royally.

Yeah, but he was a character rooted in witchcraft.
