I don't mean to hate or anything but the rules of each of these competitions will cause quite a few NG rappers/producers to not want to enter... a few of these ideas seem pretty restricting. for example the sample battle rules being only using provided samples... it'd be pretty hard to determine who the best sampling producer is because many have different styles and different tastes in the type of music they sample. The time trials thing as well, who's choosing the first and last lines to a song? It just doesn't all seem logical. Also, I don't know whether things like the MC knockout should be restricted to NG beats only.
Personally I believe if you want a true reflection of hip hop talent on this site, you should break it up into categories like: Sample producers, non-sampling producers, lyrical emcees, mainstream tracks, crews, etc. but there shouldn't be any restrictions such as NG beats only, provided sample packs, provided themes or any of that. Musicians work with creative minds and restricting the creativity will just base things more on luck as some things restricted may appeal to some producers/emcees but may not suit another's taste. It should just work as an open competition for each category so for example whoever is bringing the most heat with sampled beats or whoever is creating the catchiest tune with a mainstream track or whoever goes hardest with their lyrical ability or whatever is the winner of each category.
Thats just what I personally believe and I know many NG artists particularly the better ones up on this site would agree with me. Most hate being restricted to things, it doesn't truly reflect skill or anything.
Don't get me wrong though, it'd be interesting to see how this turns out. I just don't agree with how this is being run.
