I just passed yesterday at 11 pm :). I'm going for cyberdevil now and I will try to stay over him. He's not number 3, simply because 4-5 people are following me in the voting power list and I'm trying to catch bonus which is approximately .1 vp above me.

Yep. But I've been lucky for 2/3 of a year. My time has come to be passed. Might as well get it over with. I just hope that 2 or 3 other people don't decide to pass me all at once as well because I want to stay in the top 20. So... #18 (if I pass Shrapnel soon, as I should... and if UND can't stay ahead of me) or #19 or #20... they're all good ranks to be at.

Welcome to this weekend's update of the Top 500 Voting Power List! #500 is up from 7.26 VP to 7.27 VP. The number of tracked people in the spreadsheet rose from 1254 to 1261 when I added 7 people who entered SK's top 1000 list six days ago.

There were two rankups in the top 100 VP this week. Congrats to Captain_Bob and PimpMasterKDOG (it was BlamClub member rankup week!). Now, regarding my anticipation of UND passing me soon... I think staphita will be passing me first. His b/p pace is almost identical to mine (just around 50 bppd) and he's a couple hundred away from a rankup, so I'm toast this week. But I just passed the ever-11.32VP Shrapnel and moved from 19th to 18th, so it's all good. I just wanna stay in the top 20, yanno? (sniff)

Tiebreak at #500 involved five people at 7.27 VP. Four of the five got to stay, so this is how it broke down: 1 ranked up and passed a ton of people to get to 7.27. 1 gained 0.01 VP from exp depositing. 2 stayed unchanged at 7.27. 1 dropped by 0.01 VP. I'll let you guess which one I chose to cut from the top 500. #;-}> Most importantly, ShittyKitty jumped past that mess and up to 7.28 VP. He would have been on last weekend's update if I updated on Sundays like he does instead of Saturdays. So instead... 6 days later he got a chance to move up ahead of the 500 spot and cement his listage in the event of people ranking up behind him (as one person did). CONGRATS, SHITKIT! WOOT! In addition to the tiebreak fun at the bottom of the list, there were ten tiebreaks in the top 100, most notably gfox/Shrapnel and Recon/Stormwarden.

It's got nothing to do with your signup date. If there's a way to EASILY double-sort a list (First by the VP column, then within each VP tie, by signup/ID#) with Excel, I haven't discovered it, so I don't bother doing so.

For the top 100, I go through and manually break any ties, mostly by activity and then by signup (for instance, if that segment you quoted up there was in the top 100, I would have slid LegendaryFrog and Faceman13 down below you and the other upward-movers because they are UNCH.).

I also break ties for the 500 spot if I have to. But I don't mess with 101-495ish. The reason you're at the bottom is because you were lower than all of those people before I sorted by VP.

IOW, from last update, it looked like this:

7.50 Mappy
7.50 Klacid
7.50 LegendaryFrog
7.50 Faceman13
7.49 -Desolation-
7.49 jk801
7.49 Biofreak
7.48 SOMEPUNKNUMBERONE

When you gained 0.02 and passed those two punkass chumps, you tied all those other people for 7.50, but you were coming from lower than they were, so you're at the bottom of the stack. Capisce? If you'd like to see yourself higher on the list, check SK's when he updates it. His program automatically breaks ties by profile ID#.

Your rankup will serve you well, indeed. And remember, the higher on the list you go, the fewer people you'll ever be tied with, so you'll won't have to worry too much about the huge 7.50 jam-up you were in today, and things like that.

Hmm, I dunno. My attitude then was pretty much "Phew, I'm finally here... now what?" I think what must have got me down was the seemingly zero chance of progressing the list and as such an inevitable fall. Being able to foresee the future might have brightened the day, but it could have dimmed it as well. If I had've seen a fall next week (next week as in 4 updates from then, not the next list) my rank up to #100 would have seemed pointless.

So just enjoy it while it lasts.

That is teh impossible. Here are the VP amounts of #500 for the last 7 updates:

As you can see, each week the bottom of the list rises by either 0.00, 0.01, or 0.02... there is NO way that if you are depositing every day, that you aren't outpacing that rise by EXP ALONE. And a rankup? Last time I checked, rankups tend to give you at least 0.10 VP. 0.10 VP > 5 weeks of the natural rise of the #500 spot.

IOW, I think this "not gaining on the list" thing is in your head, man. Unless, that is, you're not depositing every day. And if you're not depositing every day, then I can't help ya. O_o

Hmm, I dunno. My attitude then was pretty much "Phew, I'm finally here... now what?" I think what must have got me down was the seemingly zero chance of progressing the list and as such an inevitable fall. Being able to foresee the future might have brightened the day, but it could have dimmed it as well. If I had've seen a fall next week (next week as in 4 updates from then, not the next list) my rank up to #100 would have seemed pointless.

Well, the way you were talking when you finally made it, it sounded like you expected to be knocked off within the week. And that didn't happen, so there ya go! Oh come on, it's not pointless if it's a peak you have to fall down a bit from... I just hit #18, and I'm likely to backslide to 19th and maybe even 20th soon when I get passed by staphita and/or UND, but I DID HIT 18, yanno.

Back in the days of popularity, most people bragged about the peak rank they hit, not necessarily their CURRENT rank, because those things were fluid... you didn't climb and climb and climb like you do with exp and b/p. VP is kinda in between... it's steadier than popularity ever was... but backsliding IS possible while climbing as fast as you can (whereas it isn't with exp and b/p IF you're doing that (depositing every day/getting a reasonable amount of b/ppd).

So anyway, I'm just trying to say that I think it was cool you hit #100 on the charts for 3 straight weeks, even if you DO fall off. Besides, if you DO fall off, you can always make it back on. Rankup would help, though. #;-}>
