Have you ever noticed, when you see two people having an argument over the internet, and when one person busts out the "You're probably" insult, what follows is what sounds like the most obscure description of another human?

For example: "OMG dude, you are so lame, you're probably an 11 year old loser fat ass nerd virgin..." etc etc

Now, think about that for a second. With little or no knowledge of player 2, player 1 has created some sort of sad little creature of a human being, and uses this to make fun of him, even though none of it is remotely correct?

I personally think these "You're probably" insults make the speaker look like a bigger jackass than the victim. Am i the only one that sees this?

There really isn't a good comeback for that type of insult. Unless you post a picture of yourself, but of course that violates the first rule of the internet.

Yeah, the only real thing that can cancel that sort of insult out is if the insult is completely incorrect, and everyone knows it, then everyone joins in and laughs at the speaker and his stupidity.

I always hate when people try to insult some one like that. I think it makes them sound kind of pathetic. Or they are just explaining there life and projecting it onto the other person to make themselves feel less alone.

I have to agree with you on that Elios. I mean most of the people who say insults like that are in fact the insults themselves. I mean like if they called someone a fat 11 year old nerd virgin, they themselves are most likely an 11 year old fat nerd virgin.

It's more interesting when people claim you are and not "you're probably".

It's a form of Ad Hominem argument, which is, as said, a logical fallacy. It doesn't matter who says the argument, it's the argument that matters.
