tried to do a song at what my NGADM level would be like! some combination of electronic and funk :>
oh my this is a wonderful genre bender! the piano mastery is phenomenal and the the funk bass, ungh! so good! the solos are amazing and so flowy! like a spiraling dust storm of floating cottonwood fuff, light beautiful andincredibly energetic.
The ending was a bit sudden because i was following the solo sound and then is just trails off.
besides that small note, i LOVE this track. so fun and FUNky!

I've been listening to your ngadm songs every week. It's nice to hear a new song of the same level!
All the features that make your songs distinct are present in this song: the synth styles, the solos, the crash sample (have you been using the same one?). This might be a poor way to describe it, but your synths sound very lively relative to other electronic musicians. Your mixing is probably one reason. Do you use constant pitch effects or frequency filters on your synths?

My only criticism of this song is that it's not memorable. When it ends, I don't continue thinking about it. This usually isn't the case for your songs. Still, I greatly enjoy listening to it :D

I did indeed modulate the synth like crazy, even more than normal. It gives it a lot of character imo.
The bass I just make crazy loud, and then I high pass all my instruments above the frequency of the bass so that it really stands out in the low end. :> Except stuff like the kick obviously, which I sidechain to the bass so that neither of them clashes with the other.
Woah. I love the dreamy synths and the portamentos. The reverb is so luscious and gives the piece a really spacey vibe. The bass groove at 1:10 is enjoyable too. Excellent mixing and mastering as always. That jazzy piano solo at 1:25 was great. Really cool tune, Johnfn. Killer melodies, catchy as hell, instrumentation enhances the mood a lot. I love all the subtle automations on the melody lines, like at 3:17. The pitch bend on that last note was awesome. The track cuts off suddenly, but fixing that is as simple putting in a blank extra measure. Fantastic piece, Johnfn! So nice of you to get me this Christmas present. ^^
