Great

I love this it is relaxing in a way and quite different keep doing your thing...really

LJCoffee responds:

Thanks - I appreciate it!

Whee

A hint of Bartok's math-music logic :)

This wins mainly because it's so transparent, even when it gets "warped up" one can still follow the individual parts.

I like how the left-hand seems borrowed from bebop, and to the extent of that it might be interesting to give it a triplet-based swing feel, just a thought.
And maybe a bit more of the retriggering on the melody that you used at the very beginning?

I've always been a sucker for reverse stuff, you used it very delicately too, especially in the way it blends with the (I assume it's a) cello.

Very original, very exciting, very cool! 5/5

LJCoffee responds:

Thank you WinTang!

I wasn't really sure where this was going while I was working on it - I have a non-warped version - but it felt a little too repetitive and it had such a low density that it just felt a little too flimsy ya know? Then I was thinking that perhaps this would make a nice intro to something much more typically eloctronic - but again, unless the final had a running time of about 10 minutes or more then this would be a little too long for an intro and to be honest I was much too lazy to really flesh out something that long.

I took the shortcut of manually "randomizing" the velocity data to try to make it sound a little less perfect in an attempt to get a more human feel - I was afraid that almost I over did it though. Maybe I did :D

Either way, it was fun to work on and I'm always glad to get comments from the regulars!

Thanks again!

Some crazy feelings

I liked the piano sound - the reverby sound and the simple melody kinda reminded me of something like the ghost piano in the haunted mansion in the Saturn game 'Shining the Holy Ark'.

I did find the focus was on the melody for too long for my liking though and the melody kinda over-short.

Really enjoyed the trippy bit. I specially liked the way it sounded while it ended.

I reckon you should revisit this, maybe shorten the 'intro' and get to the trippiness earlier, then play about and mess around more at that stage.

Stay funky!

LJCoffee responds:

Thanks -

Never played 'Shining the Holy Ark' but I'll take your word for it.

This was all put together over a few hours one day so I really didn't take as much time as I should have developing things. Your comments are quite valid and very helpful - I think that I'll take the advice that I've been given so far and rework this piece.

I'll drop a line when I submit the next version.

Thanks a ton!

lovely stuff

great track,
trippy indeed,
onaip magic,
;ped

LJCoffee responds:

Love the new name.

Thanks for the review! How's it been hangin' on your end of the planet?

Very mysterious

Well for some reason, this song really reminded me of the intro to the game Max Payne. Very mysterious and creepy. I really dug that piano sound. The warping near the end sounded like the piano was being eaten up by a warp-hole.

Was very great as it is, but I must agree with Kingbastard, that there could have been a light beat and expanded a bit. Still great as it is.

Thanks for your vote, SineRider! You voted 5 for -=LJC=- Laudanum is delicious, raising its score from 3.33 to 3.75.

LJCoffee responds:

Thank you SineRider,

Well, I can always revisit this and add to it.

BTW - speaking of revisiting projects, I still have your Softened Gaze files and every so often I open that up and play with it - It seems so much easier to work on someone else's stuff ya know?

I'll get a few of the different versions together and zip 'em up for you. I think I have two or three rendered out and maybe another couple that I started but didn't actually render. It's a whole series of remixes of your tune - which is awesome - thank you again for sending me the files!

And thanks for the vote!!
