My remix of Frozen Words by Kr1z, originally for a contest, but I did not win =(
Too bad, but since I got so many listens for the preview, I decided to upload the full version.
Enjoy guys!
Thanks for listening =]

Haven't heard the original, so can't say anything on this being an improvement or not, but it's a decent track.

The intro seemed very awkward. I didn't like the beats, there seem to be something in the line of interference or static, that you should try to mix out of it. Or just get some other samples.

The build-up was real slow, and I don't feel it really reached a proper high-point. Maybe shorten the buildup a bit, as I didn't feel the track itself started till the 1:50-mark or so. The long period with synths you used also seemed a bit dragged out.

Once it starts it definitely has a nice beat and vibe to it, but it quickly gets repetitive, and it's not the most original track I've heard. Though there is some variation, mainly in the rhythmics, it doesn't vary enough for the rest of the track, and even with these slower parts (like at 2.45), it really doesn't get much variation.

I do like the part starting at 2.45, but it also feels a bit dragged out. It sounds real good, a bit laid back, but with that nice buildup. Once the main melody kicks back in it all just gets really repetitive again.

I feel you could easily cut about a minute or a more off of this track without it lessening the quality. The outro is all right, it doesn't end too abruptly, you let it play out. Nicely done.

YakovlevArt responds:

yeah, i didn't have much to work with when I got the patterns for the remix.
This is an older track I had on my hard drive, so i decided to post it becasue the preview got so much love =]
But I agree on your review. Thanks for it =]

Sorry if I don't pay much attention, but there are just so many new features to this that I must try to take on board. That and the music itself is quite good. I can't see anywhere showing what genre this is, so I'll guess it's Trance...

Inside the first minute, there was a little static on some of the softer beats, possibly meaning that you've tried to make them too loud. Given that the piece starts off softly and builds up layer upon layer to turn into something more befitting of a nightclub, you've done well, though some of the development of this seems a little long-winded, by comparison. Would you consider shortening the cycle for adding something to the mix next time?

A good balance of beats and synths to for the "meat and veg" of the piece gives you a good springboard to take it further. I liked the pause and rebuild that you used, to get back to something similar, though the difference is certainly noticeable. Because of the pause in the middle and the ending, this seems like a half-track, which loops, to the untrained ear and it could certainly work as a backing for a WipEout style racing game - one which I'd certainly like to have a crack at.

Its very Rabbi-ful

I like it its almost better than the original but it like the fade in and out it give some more character to the music and I really like the drums at 1:50
its also just plain cool.

YakovlevArt responds:

Awesome!
That comment means a lot to me actually. It's cool to kno you think this is better then the original =]
Thanks for the kind words.

Awesome

Great track bro! Great synths and drums, very euphoric!

My only issue would be a few of the filters you used, they tended to make the track too high in treble, but that's not a huge issue.

All in all, good job bro! Keep it up!

3S

YakovlevArt responds:

Yeah I know what you mean. I made this track a few months ago and didn't really spend a lot of time on it.
But thanks for the review =]
