Well, This is a nice change of events, I actually made a decent easy listening song. And to be honest, I'm quite proud of it.
Jazz, even though it's something completely new for me I love the genre. it's so funky and badass :P
Ok, track Details :
The Brass Staccatos and Pizzicatos are all Squidfont Orchestral, I highly recommend it, They're extremely high quality and there's a lot to choose from.
I got the drums from a magazine called computer music. They were in the rock pack, but I didn't mind. I layered some kicks and snares and these were the final result.
The Bass is a random soundfont called 'Street Bass' btw.
The Muted Trumpet is from the sorohampler (Link below) courtesy of Newgrounds' own Sorohanro, So I'll have to thank him too.
Mixing and Mastering done in about 2 hours or so.
I called this track Il Gato Negro because I imagine a black cat in some painting jumping out and going into Italy's nightlife and Every pizzicato is the cat's step and everytime a brass staccato plays, I imagine something popping up.
And also, I beg of you, listen to this with Headphones or a decent Subwoofer because you can't hear the bass without them. And the bass is the song's support, so to speak.
So Here it Is, 'Il Gato Negro'.

Funky

Kind of does have that funky jazz feel as if I had just entered an old looking club and people are giving me odd looks for simply walking in there. Enter the wrong room/bar much?

The saxophone, bass guitar, and violins, along with drums all seem to come together and it sounds great. Got no reason to not like something like this, it's good and kind of helps you feel relaxed and chilled out.

Would make for a great menu song or credit music anyways.

Mysterious, beautifully mastered

Hey Decibel,

--Production--
The sound is crisp and clean, stellar. The hi hats are highly present, yet never drowning out the entire piece. However, the intro can be seen to be empty, since the bass is so sparse. Very tender and beautiful composition.

--Experience--
The grease has been sprayed on this joint, so lubrication is no problem. This beat flows with ease, with a rockin' bassline and funky smoky vibes. Little staccato brass tip-toes in the background, lending to a theme for a spy, or espionage.

--Style--
Jazzy until the kingdom comes. I would classify it as a loop rather than a song, and a short one at that. It also loops very well and flows along without stopping. I would, however, have implemented more phases of the song than just two: one with drums and one without.

--Wow Factor--
It certainly is professional and that brings about amazement. The sounds are clear and crisp, the production showing the many signs of effort. I also didn't realise that mixing and mastering should go on for about 2 hours. I do mine in about 2 minutes, so that's probably why my songs sound very amateur.

--Personal Tilt--
I liked the professional and jazzy quality that this greasy, smoky beat conveyed. It told a tale, a tale of espionage, spying, and mystery. A beat like this needs more than just two phases, however, to keep it motivating and interesting. Good composition. Thanks for letting me listen.

--Production-- = 16/20
--Experience-- = 18/20
--Style-- = 17/20
--Wow Factor-- = 17/20
--Personal Tilt-- = 16/20

OVERALL SCORE: 84/100

I Like your reviews ^^
Thanks for the input, though I might not continue it since I'm not very expeienced in this genre. But be sure to check out my new song, I'll submit is soon, hopefully.

Nice use of trumpet

Good idea to make bass in unison with trumpet in some places (very much like Marcus Miller, google on him).
Very "cat like" track actually. the pizzicato is really effective here, really add the "cat steps".
What I would change is the rhythm. To my taste, the rhythm it's coming too rough, there is no sense of building tension. You could start with a swinging ride cymbal, hi-hats on up-beat, then add small accents on kick, then add snare, then build all this rhythm.

Overall, good work. Congrats :)

Decibel responds:

Oh finally, a nice review :P
I'll see what I can do with the rythm.
Thanks! :)

Real nice

It's really nice, sounds are almost top-notch... It's really hard to give you a near constructive review because of the length... I'd say keep this up, work on this track a little more.... It is worthy of being much longer.
Jazz is a great genre of music, as is the Blues, I think you would be good at doing both of those!
Just keep it up, work on this one a little more... Add more to it is all.

Keep doing your thing man, I'd love to see this as a complete song rather than what seems to be a loop.

Thanks for the input! :)
[deciBel]

that was...

short and not very satisfying but pretty good as long as it lasted.

Decibel responds:

K Thanks :P
