(putting this at the top of all my descriptions will be an ongoing trend for future songs, so no one has to ask anymore)

Hey! I'm back in school this year studying music (was working all last year). An assignment I had for one of my classes was to write a prelude for solo piano using only 5 pitches.

I chose the pitches C, E, G, G#, and A#. We were allowed to have a few exceptions for single/brief uses, so there are a few chromatic grace notes in there, and a few instances of F for harmonic reasons. Otherwise it's just the 5 notes listed.

I'm pretty satisfied with what I managed to make within the limitations.

Since it was a submitted piece, I also have sheet music fully rendered for it. If you would like me to email it to you, send me a PM with your email and I can send it over.

As always TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK! Be brutally honest. No one ever learned anything from ego-stroking :)

Neat!

This was pretty cool given your limits for the project. If you used a soundfont or VST that adjusts timbre at different velocities, then I think it would sound more natural; your softer dynamics would become less harsh. Overall an enjoyable composition!

You are the exception...

This kind of experimental/classically complicated songs is missing nowadays. In my mind, the song doesn't really give any images... Only the slight sight of a vortex filled to the brim with darkness and imagination. I can't believe that people are still able to write like this in 2010. Either you have very good teachers, either you have a gift. I bet on the second option. Keep it up, seriously! Those songs stand out in your library of tunes!
