Newgrounds Audio Deathmatch submission.

Figured I'd go for something softer than I usually do as a challenge to myself.

Ambient at its best.

I like the clean feel this has to it. It has a really calming soothing precense, the piano provides a nice relaxing melody with an interesting pad backdrop to top it all off. The piano however, could have made use of more reverb, giving it a deeper feel. The drums were quite decent too, but slightly repetitive in some parts. Overall blend and depth was great, those pads did their job well. I particularly love the introduction, with that nice pad background and the piano coming in to build up. Transitions werent as smooth as i'd have liked, so maybe you could work on that. The outro could use some more work too, as it was slightly too abrupt. All in all, a great effort, and a song with much potential.

Note: This is your review from the NGADM Round 1 and as always im posting it here for your convenience.

Darklight

Very relaxing,

Very relaxing, but some slight adjustments to the instruments might make it better.

This is extremely relaxing, this would be something that I could sleep to at night. The arpeggios you use at the beggining and the end parts, are nice, but they do get a slight bit repetitive. Although you do switch it up just before it gets overly repetitive. The melody is very nice, it's very calming, but it can also seem to be very sad. Having the drums the way they do in the backround has a good effect in the way you're probably trying to accomplish, and the parts where the drums are loud are good. But I do feel that the drums should have more places where they are louder. But that might mean having to make the song longer too.

When it comes to the instruments, the choices you use for the main rhythm and melody are pretty good. I can't really say much more because I can't think of anything more to say. I would say turn up the drums a bit more at more parts, but that's about it.

GronmonSE responds:

Yeah, I turned up the volume on some parts and lowered it on others to get a particular effect, but I see what you mean.

Thanks for the review, sir!

Well

This is like the polar opposite of what your competitor submitted. It'll be exciting to see how this match will turn out, because the two songs are really not comparable. This song... it's very pleasant (some of the cymbals were perhaps a bit intrusive) and relaxing, but the song feels like forever and I'm struggling to stay awake.

GronmonSE responds:

Who said it was meant to keep you awake? :P

I might tone down the cymbals before the deadline.

Thanks for reviewing it, SBB. Great to get a review from you.

Very nice!

This is very nice melodic track! Clean, heart warming, overall just awesome. The drums fit perfectly, love the texture of the pads, the piano is light yet appropriate.
Great work on this man! Good luck in the competition!

GronmonSE responds:

Thank you sir!
