This song has been a long time coming. I first began working on it a few years ago on a friend's computer using the FL Studio demo, but never got around to finishing it (I probably got frustrated by the inability to save). This month, I decided to suck it up and redo it using LMMS. It sounds different from the original concept because different synths were used, but I'm pretty pleased with the result.
Stylistically, I was going for the feel of an upbeat synth tune, kind of like the theme music you might expect to hear in the 80s and early 90s for a Prime Time drama on TV (L.A. Law or St. Elsewhere, to cite some examples of what I mean). Actually, before I thought of that, I was thinking of the sort of upbeat music you might hear in one of those educational videos on sports that sometimes get shown in gym class - that's where the title "Slalom" came from. Anyway, my point is that if this song sounds cheesy to you, I meant for it to sound that way.
I don't play the guitar very well and don't currently have one to use, so I used a guitar synth for one of the solos instead. Maybe someday I'll revisit this and try to put a real one in there - I think it would sound better. If anyone is interested in providing one, let me know.
