So, I finally got off my lazy poor-quality audio bum and made a song worth listening to for 5 seconds...

I recived a copy of Finale 2009 as a gift and, well, ever since then I have been looking over the program bit by bit. I finally sat down for a good hour and pieced together some good chord structures and melodies, then wrote this.

Since all my previous work is... comparatively poor... this is truly the cornerstone of a new stage of me as a composer. I hope you enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed hearing a noise that didn't sound like a dishwasher come out of my speakers.

A good start, but not there yet.

It wasn't awful, and take that to heart, because I mean it. It was by no means horrible. IMO there was too much variation for a recognizable melody to come out. I used to do this kind of thing a lot, excited to start doing some serious composing, and laying down things that I thought as complex and intricate, and somewhat good sounding. However, the major flaw with this is that you give the listener no base; no "home" for them to remember---a distinct melody does this.

Hmm... it seems I keep going back and forth between one hard place and another... most of my previous compositions were marked down because their melodies were too much, and this one because its melody is too little... how does one find the area in between?
